Ben criticising Peter for defending himself was ridiculous.

Ben criticising Peter for defending himself was ridiculous. He said he shouldn't have run away. What else was he supposed to do, let him beat him? He tried to defend himself non-violently for as long as he could, and used as little violence as possible.

Was it maybe related to the level of beatdown Peter threw on the kid? Flash's arm was broken and his parents were suing, yes? The Parkers weren't in a position to legally defend themselves either way - no cash - whether guilty or innocent. So Ben might've been frustrated by the knowledge of the impending financial doom, too. Maybe not fair to take it out on Peter, or even maybe he did so unintentionally (subconsciously), but that could've been a factor.

I think it was the level of violence Peter used. That was where "with great power comes great responsibility" came in.

Funny, when you put it that way, you make it sound like Uncle Ben knew that Peter had superpowers.

He scolded Peter for almost breaking his arm. The school fight had a lot of witnesses and it’s surprising more people didn’t suspect he had powers.
