Spider-Month begins with the film that started it all! Sam Raimi's Spider-Man seems to getting mixed responses recently, but are they warranted? Nostalgia Critic takes a look at how well they held up.

Oh boy, can't wait for him to complain about Raimi for having a "style" (like every major director these days) or the hamminess of Dafoe who still kicks the shit out of the Garfield villains.

After over a year of not seeing the original Spider-Man, Doug and Rob watch and see if this film's campy in a good way or a bad way. Let's take another look at Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.

I know I love the double standards. X-men got all this flak for not having style yet Spider-man gets all this flak for having style. I also think it is funny people go oh it is so corny/cheese. Oh really wow you are so observant. I never would have figured that out unless you had pointed it out to me. Why is cheese/corny bad? Are people aware that it was Raimi's intent for it to be that way?

The Walkers are extremely nitpicky anyway but then hipsters take their word as gospel.

I forgot that Octavia Spencer was in the first Spider-Man. Of course, I knew that "Sam Raimi-regulars" like Bruce Campbell, Lucy Lawless, and his brother were going to work somehow work their ways into it. I suppose that it's one of those cases of "retroactive recognition" as TV Tropes likes to put it.

It's also funny that the movie that in essence, officially made Octavia Spencer a "star" and a household name, The Help, featured the two cinematic Gwen Stacys in Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard.

How does this sexist douchebag still have fans? One of the worst reviewers on YouTube.

reply

Never watched him, even before all those revelations about what was going on at his company.

Shrill, annoying, and got tired quickly of the non stop sarcasm.

I honestly can't believe he's even still making videos. He hasn't been funny since...what, 2012? If even?

reply

I use to watch his nostalgia critic videos all the time. Mostly 2009-2011 ish. The more videos he does out out of character though, especially with Rob, who is even a bigger douche, I see more and more how they take things WAY too seriously. And his NC videos have gotten unbearably long, and filled with too much crap with all the other “characters” from his channel. I still try watching a video or two every once in a while, because it used to be legit fun, but now I can barely stomach them.
