is there any newer movie more dated than this one?

i mean, this movie is really, really dated. don't take me wrong, i love it, but it's dated. anyway, since it's from 2002, i'm wondering if there is a movie released after 2002 that feels as dated?

Every movie that will ever be made will feel dated. It's just going to happen. For instance the cellphone Harry uses in the movie is outdated technology. The cellphones any of the characters in Avengers Age of Ultron used are dated now. See what I mean? I mean let's be honest. The computer you are using now regardless of how new it is has become outdated right after buying it because of the fact a brand new bunch of computers had already come into the store you bought from a month after you bought it. Sorry. It's just the way I look at it.

True... Any movie that shows any kind of real technology (meaning tech that was actually used in the real world, and not some fake, created-for-the-movie tech) will appear to be dated much quicker than most movies that don't prominently show the various, current technology.

Thinking about this also reminded me how often I've seen movies (especially in the early-to-mid 2000s) where the characters didn't have cellphones when they needed them-- during some sort of "emergency" or whatever. Times when pretty much everybody in real life already had cellphones, but for whatever reason, the characters in the movie didn't, have always bothered me.

Pretty much everybody (~92% of adults in the U.S.) has a cellphone now. In 2004 it reached 65%, which is most people but not yet pretty much everyone. A couple years earlier, in 2002, only half of adults owned a cellphone. Another couple of years earlier (2000) it was only at 28.3% with an additional 11.1% of people who shared a cellphone with another member of their household. So cellphone use was not ubiquitous yet in the early to mid 2000s (especially early) but perhaps the characters you are referring to were those who you would think would be among cellphone users in that time period. That would be fair to note.

That's actually pretty interesting that so few people, relatively speaking, had cellphones during that time-frame. I'm pretty surprised by that. I got my first cellphone when I was still in high school, and I graduated in '96 (it was one of those brick-looking Nokia phones-- pretty much the first actual cellphones that existed, besides those "bag phone" things, that had to be plugged into the cigarette lighter haha). It seemed like everybody I knew had a phone by the early 2000s though. That's crazy that they weren't really that common until so much later. I would've never guessed that. Thanks for posting those numbers-- it's weird how quickly it went from cellphones being pretty rare, to everybody over 8 years old having one, haha.

so you followed me, huh? man, i love this movie. it's awesome and it's the first movie i ever loved. but it's dated, no one can deny that. it doesn't take away any part of it's charm though.

Any Disney Channel movie? 😁 I think most comedies and plenty of action movies from the early 2000s show their age just as much. And yes, there's nothing wrong with it but they have a certain charm.
