The rape interview

I thought that the movie probably exaggerated how much of an a$$hole the sheriff was that took Brandon's rape statement, but once I heard the actual interview all I can say is wow what a prick! He was talking to Brandon like the rape wasn't a big deal.

Darling, you can't rape a townie......

reply

I agree, it was sickening to listen to it. Poor Brandon.

The sheriff was your stereotypical "country bumpkin" idiot with a badge, no better than white trash himself.

The sheriff came across as really creepy and perverted in the way he asked the questions. I think he was getting sick pleasure in hearing the answers to the questions he asked the way he did. He was also very uncaring as though Brandon wasn't a victim.

Without a doubt!

I was so disgusted as well listening to that interview. I just kept thinking, "What the hell is wrong with that sheriff?" He was treating Brandon as if he were the criminal. So horrible.

Just like with the movie Boys Don't Cry, and I'm probably overly cynical, but it didn't surprise me at all about the sheriff and how Brandon was treated. Sexual "differences" still confuse and irritate an awful lot of people. Cops ought to be better than the common man, treat the law as the law without prejudice, but they aren't and they don't.

Meanwhile, as the child of a cop - I know they are all not as perfect as they like to appear. I have been to parties etc. I have seen them break the law on the road (as we all have I am sure).
