Does anyone know how this movie ends? I bought this movie on dvd, it has 3 epsiodes a total of 270 min. I am afraid I don’t have the whole movie.
If you can help me I would really appreciate it.

ik heb denk ik hetzelfde probleem.
het lijkt wel of wij de laatste episode missen of misschien wel een hele dvd met nog eens drie episodes.
ik heb het boek jaren geleden gelezen en weet dat het in ieder geval niet zo eindigt.
misschien een fout in de productie of een vierde dvd die wij niet hebben gekregen.
ik ga in ieder geval proberen te achterhalen wie deze dvd hier in nederland uitgeeft misschien dat zij ons verder kunnen helpen.

Ik heb een mail gestuurd naar de mensen van www.justonline.nl, dat is de uitgever van de dvd. Ze vertelde mij toen in een mailtje dat er inderdaad een fout is gemaakt bij het produceren van de dvd. Als je een maltje stuurt kunnen ze je eventueel een nieuwe dvd opsturen.

Het klopt inderdaad dat de serie niet volledig is. Onze excuses hiervoor. Wij hebben namelijk zonder het te weten maar drie episodes aangeleverd gekregen van onze licentiegever. De volledige versie is momenteel in produktie.
Op het moment dat deze versie beschikbaar is, zullen wij u een juiste box toezenden.
Hiervoor hebben wij echter u adresgegevens nodig. Kunt u deze ons doen toekomen, zodat wij een en ander juist kunnen afhandelen.

Ik heb nog niet de complete versie ontvangen wel heb ik mijn adresgegevens opgestuurd en hebben ze mij in afwachting van de nieuwe complete box (die ze zouden opsturen als die klaar is) een andere dvd gestuurd om het goed te maken voor het ongemak. Ik zal dus als ik jouw was je adres gegevens alsnog mailen dan sturen ze je de nieuwe box op.

mijn adres gegevens had ik meteen na het ontvangen van hun reactie middels een reply verstuurd.
Wel jammer dat ze onderscheidt maken en enkele van de ik denk toch wel vele mensen die deze box hebben aangeschaft en "gereageerd" hebben niet hebben voorzien van een dvd voor het ongemak.
Maar goed verschil moet er zijn en ik doe daar niet moeilijk over.
Ik heb overigens op hun site (just entertainment) meerdere titels gezien die denk ik de moete waard zijn om bekeken te worden.
De BBC miniseries zijn toch wel favoriet, ze hebben een bepaalde sfeer die mij toch wel bekoort.
Andere titels die mij wel hebben vermaakt zijn "North & South"..... Plot Outline: North and South is a four part adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's love story of Margaret Hale, a middle class southerner who is forced to move to the northern town of Milton.(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417349/)
Verder vond ik "Wives and Daughters" ook wel vermakelijk, overigens ook een novel van Elizabeth Gaskell(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0215364/)
Wat ik eigenlijk één van de betere (misschien wel de beste) verfilming van een boek vind is toch wel "Pride and Prejudice" en dan bedoel ik niet de nieuwe verfilming met Keira Knightley (hoewel die ook wel vermakelijk is)maar de versie met Colin Firth en Jennifer Ehle.
Misschien heb je hier iets aan, misschien ook wel niet, ik vond het hoe dan ook leuk om te vermelden.
Als je interesse hebt in dit genre kan ik je meerdere titels aanraden, het is daarbij natuurlijk wel een kwestie van persoonlijke smaak.

Inderdaad wel vreemd dat ze sommige wel een dvd sturen en andere niet, maar gelukkig vind je het niet erg. Voor de zekerheid zal ik wel een reply neerzetten als ik de nieuwe dvd van our mutual friend heb ontvangen (als er eventueel iets fout is gegaan bij het mailen of verzenden).
Ik ben het trouwens helemaal met je eens dat meerdere leuke films uitgeven. Ik vind de BBC miniseries ook heel erg leuk.

Dank! Ik wist dat het boek anders eindigde en ik werd helemaal gek toen de dvd stopte bij episode 3.
De afgelopen week heb ik mij suf gebeld en gemaild en toen uiteindelijk... jullie mails. Geweldig! Ik ga er meteen achteraan.
Tip voor diegenen die nog de dvd van Pride & Prejudice (Colin Firth) willen kopen. Hij is 9,99 bij Free Record (of 3 dvd's voor 25 euro).
Kim, ik neem aan dat je alle klassiekers van Austen en Bronte die verfilmd zijn al hebt gekocht? Er is veel te koop.

Het duurde wat langer dan gewoonlijk maar ik heb het een beetje druk gehad de laatste tijd.
Hier nog een kleine aanvulling van series en films die ik de moeite waard vind om te kijken.
Great Expectations (1999) met Ioan Gruffudd en Justinne Waddell
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (1996) met Tara Fitzgerald
Jane Eyre (1983)met Timothy Dalton en Zelah Clarke (de beste Jane Eyre verfilming naar mijn idee)
Emma (1996) met Kate Beckinsale
The Buccaneers (1995) met Carla Gugino
Middlemarch (1994) met Juliet Aubrey
Vanity Fair (1998) met Natasha little (alleen jammer van de orkestrale, bombastische en best wel irritante filmmuziek)
De titels die ik hier boven noem zijn allemaal onderhevig aan persoonlijke smaak daar moet je natuurlijk wel rekening mee houden.
Ik zal als de tijd het toelaat binnenkort deze lijst aanvullen en ik zal daarbij ook een lijstje maken met films en series die ik persoonlijk niet zo goed vind.

The Buccaneers is nog niet uit op regio 2, maar wel op regio 1. Ik heb de serie onlangs aangeschaft en 'm in een keer uit zitten kijken. Fantastische serie was dat, echt een van de beste die ik ooit heb gezien.

You didn't say how far into the film you had watched so I'll just try my best. (Be aware I haven't read the book and have only watched the BBC mini series but hope the endings shouldn't differ)
- Eugene discovers Lizzie's whereabouts and sets off to find her.
- The crazied Schoolmaster has been following Eugene as he believes he will lead him to Lizzie (which Eugene does after toying with him greatly and driving him even more crazy)
- Eugene confronts Lizzie and they both confess their love and share a kiss before Lizzie says they can't be together, walks away and asks Eugene not to follow her again.
- The Schoolmaster (after witnessing this) then attacks Eugene with a weapon from behind, beating him almost to death and then throwing him in a nearby river.
- Lizzie hears the commotion and runs back to drag Eugene from the water. He is very nearly dead and the doctors say he will not recover.
- Mortimer travels to see Bella to inform her of Eugene and Lizzie's situation and to ask if she will come back with him. While Mortimer is there he spots John and recognises him from the night John Harmon was found dead. It is revealed in front of Bella that John gave a false name and the police have been looking for him for a long time now.
- Bella is obviously suspictious but doesn't push for answers says she trusts John (even when he is taken off and questioned by the police)
- Eugene and Lizzie are married (with John and Bella witnessing) and then prepare for Eugene's passing. Eugene tells Mortimer that it was the Schoolmaster who attacked him but he doesn't want him convicted even when he is dead. Mortimer throws the police off track and no suspect is ever caught.
- The Schoolmaster gets into a tussle with the fellow he tried to set up for the attempted murder of Eugene. (I'm afraid I can't remember his name but he was in the beginning, he almost drowned in the Thames (Think he might have been Lizzie's father's old partner) Anyway, the Schoolmaster purposely drags them both into a rough patch of water and we assume they both drown.
- Meanwhile, Bella and John are living happily in a small cottage and Bella tells John she is pregnant, they are both ecstatic.
- John and Bella return to Mr & Mrs Boffin's and the whole story is revealed. The Boffins had discovered John's true identity very early on and agreed to help engineer a 'test' for Bella (which involved Mr Boffin's nasty change in character) to see if she would stick up for John when he was slighted by Mr Boffin, and whether she would give up everything to be with him. John finally confesses his true identity to Bella (who I must say takes it all rather calmly!)
- There was some side story about the multiple wills of John Harmon's father and it turns out that the most recent one had been destroyed by Mr Boffin as it left everything to him and nothing to John. John owes everything he has to the Boffins and it seems they are all to live together in the big house.
- Much to everyone's suprise, Eugene slowly recovers and is even able to hobble around and socialise.
- The ending is a happy one with everyone on a picnic together - Mortimer, The Boffins, the lame girl that Lizzie was living with and Sloppy even get together, and of course Lizzie and Eugene, and John, Bella and their baby.
There are a few little details that I have missed out which I do not consider inportant to the story and would probably just be too much information. If you are going to watch the ending/whole thing again then I really recommend the BBC production (starring Keeley Hawes and Anna Friel)

I now know that the movie I bought is not complete. The DVD ends with Eugene being attacked by the schoolmaster. I think I only got 3 parts instead of four.
Frankly--I almost didn't watch the 4th episode it was so boring. Like hello! I wanted Headstone dead in the 2nd episode. They totally draw his death out til the fourth. Who cares. And back and forth between the Boffins having the money and the Harmons. Again...who cares.

I was so frustrated with the way it all seemed to end, but now I see I was missing an episode as well. I'm sorry I didn't see it myself (since it all seems quite beautiful and I think the acting was very good), but still I am glad to know the whole story now!
