I always want to live alone (spoiler)

i didn't get this so much. cally was a very independent character, but this line seemed to end the movie on a bit of an odd note. does anyone have thoughts on the last line of the movie? i doubt anyone checks this forum anymore, but whatever.

Yep, no idea about that either... sorry

I think one of the themes of the movie was about clinging to others & hoping it'll make your life better, but they all learn that it doesn't usually work out that way. For example, in the 60s they thought a commune would solve their problems but it went sour; Sabine thought having a baby would be great but it bombed; Wade held on to Cally even though they had a lousy relationship; Sabine's living with the author was supposed to make her happy but she still had problems with intimacy; on and on...

Cally spent the whole movie chasing after Sabine because she wanted that sort of life. But at the end I think she realizes that it's better to stay independent & live her own life rather than clinging to anyone else.

that's never made sense until now. i've watched this movie a lot of times, and i would always feel a bit confused at the ending, so thanks for resolving that. i think i'll enjoy it a lot more now! :)
