I very much enjoyed the film's sense of humour and I was wondering if that's a part of the book or if it was an element added by the screenwriters. Thanks.

I'm a bit lazy to look this up but very interested in the titel/autor?!
I liked it very much and would like to read the book.

Yes, the humor is very cheeky, almost a parody of the genre at times. And the villain goes to absurd lengths for no real reason except of course because that's what villains do! ;)
