Saw a documentary on Trey Parker & Matt Stone the other day, where they mentioned this film.

It was said that a video of this film was sent to a small number of executives in an attempt to get some work. Apparently these execs loved the film and made copies of it which they sent on to other people. From the sounds of it some people were watching 4th generation copies (ie copies of copies of copies of copies).

I just love the fact that the RIAA and the major film houses will swoop on someone for downloading a mainstream film which will make it's profit regardless of whether they sell another hundred tickets or not, but when it's the execs themselves who commit copyright infringement it's a different set of rules...

Point taken, but the Spirit of Christmas you're talking about was the one made in 1995, not 1992.
