which one is gorier? BrainDead or Premutos?

Please?

thats hard to say. braindead is a way better movie though. premutos has the worst overdubbing i have ever heard.

Don't watch the dubbed version!
Okay, the actors can't act in the german version either... but I've never seen a good dub (of a movie that ain't animated) in my life -- and certainly not one of the low budget movies.
Watch them subtitled instead.

Dead Alive I still say. Premutos had some really cheap effects and cheated with some fast cutting and unsteady shots whereas Braindead lets the gore flow and doesn't shy away from the camera. Plus I think Braindead was in the record books for having the most stage blood in a movie.

Maybe PREMUTOS is gorier, but this doesn't means it has more effects: many scenes are done in the cheapest way, by using guts (from the butcher) and buckets of blood, while BRAINDEAD is in the latex-kingdom.
Besides, Jackson's movie has more style, both on camera works and humour - this flick makes you fill disgusted in a funny way, while Ittenbach's one is more on the idea of violence (like ICHI THE KILLER or VERSUS, for example).

I think that BRAINDEAD is the ultimate splatter- movie: many others may have better effects or more complicated splatter scenes, but this flick has an unique style.

Premutos is much more low budget that Brain Dead so what’s there to compare? I had a lot of good laughs with Brain Dead and maybe less with Premutos, the effects were better in Brain Dead but that's what money does: give better effects, better actors, better stages etc. The storyline of Premutos was perhaps a little more complex (historical flashbacks) but rather cheaply cast.
However, if you only limit it to the level of gore then I think they come close, like someone already said, Premutos has it all along, Brain Dead has a slow start and furthermore the amount of blood isn’t the only criterion but also how the damage is inflicted etc.
Premutos has some nice puking in the face and shooting with snot in someone's mouth, a real nauseating laugh.

Having seen both uncut versions of Brain Dead (or Dead Alive if you live in the States) and Premutos, I would have to say Brain Dead wins as goriest film, hands down. It's also far FAR better than this, in every possible way.

That's my mother you're p!ssing on."

Having seen both, without a doubt Braindead is the gorier film.

I think it's obvious that Premuntos is gorrier. Braindead only really has that one extremely bloody scene that shows more blood splatter than actual dismemberment. Premuntos is filled with scenes of gallons of blood usage and shows every bit of detail, poorly done or not. The number of decapitations in Premuntos is phenomenal.

Braindead is gorier.

Sure, if you measure it purely in terms of quantity of blood on-screen. But Braindead is a much more jokey film; the gore scenes are played for laughs (and get them). It's like watching a Tex Avery splatter-toon. Premutos has a few nice gags as well, but the violence is much nastier - there's a real sense of suffering, and the effects, while cheap and sometimes shoddy, look pretty realistic. Also, as someone has pointed out, Braindead only really turns up the gore in the last 20 minutes or so. Premutos opens with an excessively gross sequence of carnage, and continually throws in more every few minutes via 'flashbacks'. Mind you, I'd much rather watch Braindead any day, since if all I wanted to see was an overload of blood 'n guts I'd watch the Guinea Pig series, and that's too unpleasant.

The thing is, Brain Dead is a proper film; whereas Premutos is really only low budget.

Therefore you really should be comparing it with Bad Taste (Peter Jackson's first movie), which was made in a similar vein.
That is: only shot on weekends over a few years, the director doing all the effects themselves while still working a day job, no-one getting paid, etc...

reply

Braindead has more blood, Premutos has more gore.

they're both equally beautiful

I'll say Premutos as it was more consistently gory....Braindead seemed to be the average content for a splatterfilm until the last half hour where things kick into overdrive......but Braindead it a far better film in terms of.....well pretty much everything thing
