Did Jada Pinkett Smith turn down the role on this movie?

But personally no matter if it was due to her busy schedule w/ Matrix movies/games or her being pregnant at time, I feel they should have given a better explanation to having Buddy all of a sudden fall in love with Janet's character. From the 1st movie he was all worried he wouldn't be able to get a girl like Carly and now this movie is making it as if he could have anyone (i.e. Denise).
