Why did they rape her?

Why DID the soldiers rape the general's daughter? Were they without women for THAT long?

reply

Probably, and as told in the movie, the soldiers hated her.

So it was more revenge, rather than rape in order to achieve an orgasm / fulfill a fantasy

reply

Why,was she a bad person?I haven't seen this movie in ages,so you'll have to enlighten me.

reply

"They couldn't take a piss with her on the watch"

I think that was the line used to describe her

reply

So,basically she didn't let them get away with anything.Raping her seems a bit extreme.

reply

Look the military is a macho enviroment. The guys didn't like that she was better at somestuff then them. So it was jealousy mixed with sexism and hate that inspired the rape.

reply

It seems pretty unrealistic to me.I mean if they did manage to get her clothes off,I don't think that she would just SIT there and wait for them to get the wooden stakes and rope to tie her down to the ground with.Besides,it takes a lot of energy to have sex.If all those guys had sex with her, wouldn't she be like dead or something?

reply

Oh, dear God. Stop posting, child.

It was rape... not sex, stupid.

Also, if you remember her being QUITE *beep* up afterward...

And yes, it is possible to have sex with/be raped by (what have you) that many people. It happens a LOT. If it ends in death it's GENERALLY because the victim was killed afterward. Or because of some physical trauma. Not exhaustion... really now...

Your focus and incessant posting on the rape is giving me the creeping heebie-jeebies.

Dude, are you serious? These guys were half the size bigger than her. She probably would have struggle to fight against one of them, let alone take on all 5 of them. If you recalled the rape scene, she did tried to fight back by booting 2 of the guys in the chest. However, they proceeded to beat up her for that by punching her in the face several times.

reply

daveeh, you are mostly right. it was more jealousy than anything else. that's why they hated her. she was more clever and smart than anyone else in the group.

reply

Please tell me you're trolling, noone is that stupid.

reply

Well,i there was such a word,I reply to that statement. But what I don't get is where they got the stakes and rope from.Plus,I don't think that she would just sit around and wait for them to get it.

reply

There were about 7 guys to 1 woman. All of them strong. She wasn't just sitting around, she was being beaten up. I think there were enough of them to hold her down, while another pulled out the rope etc. They were on a training mission or something, who knows what kind of gear they would have been carrying with them.... The psychiatrist said that they raped her almost to death.

"As my mother always said, no man who never did nothing never made any mistakes." - Frank Spencer.

reply

Well,at least we got to see her naked!!!But in all seriousness, she was beaten up?I don't remember the psychiatrist mentioning that.I remember him saying "They raped her all night." and that's about it.But I mean, they're in the military and there are no women around,so I guess they were sexually frustrated. She DID get her revenge on them.I remember that tape that showed this guy tied up or something. And her father?I can't believe that he would try to cover this up!!!I would have hunted them all down and put a bullet in their heads!!!Or at least gotten other people to do that for me!!!

Is it true that Leslie Stefanson and James Spader are having a baby?I didn't know that they were even a couple!!!

reply

They don't say she was beaten, but you see it in the flash backs, plus how badly bruised her face was when she was found.

"As my mother always said, no man who never did nothing never made any mistakes." - Frank Spencer.

reply

Man,I gotta watch this movie again because I don't remember any of that!!!They beat her AND raped her?She must have done something really bad for them to do that to her.I mean raping her is bad enough, and it doesn't make sense to beat her up as well.Unless she fought back and they hit her to get her under control.

reply

"Unless she fought back and they hit her to get her under control"

Bingo!

"As my mother always said, no man who never did nothing never made any mistakes." - Frank Spencer.

reply

I know this was two years ago but good god!

"She must have done something really bad for them to do that to her.I mean raping her is bad enough, and it doesn't make sense to beat her up as well."

Wow, just wow. First of all what she did was be better than them, she was brilliant, clever, beautiful, talented and a good soldier and on top of that she had a famous general for a dad. They hated her because she was intimidating to them.
Also since when did you have to do something bad to get raped? Are you implying women that get raped deserve it because they 'did' something? O. M. G.
Rape is sexual violence so why you'd be surprised that they beat her up is beyond me, they didn't make love to her, they violated her, the beating was the least of what they did. Most rape has some element of violence beyond the act itself, how do you think the victim is forced otherwise? To echo the other people on this thread, real life rape (as in not the kind of porn you've probably been watching, which is cool as long as you can tell the difference between the two which I'm kind of doubting :/ ) is NOT about sex.
Hint, the rape wasn't about them wanting to get off with her it was about showing her her place, that she had no right to be outshining them, that they were bigger and stronger, they could hurt her in one of the most intimate and damaging ways there is to destroy a person and there was nothing she could do.
Clearly you're too young to be watching films like this if you thought the highlight was her nudity rather than seeing the heartbreaking story of a woman reaching out to her father for help and him being more bothered about how bad it looked for himself.
Either that or lame troll is lame.

reply

HOLY *beep*, thank you for your post. I can't believe the ignorance of some people.

reply

Are you serious???? --"They beat her AND raped her?She must have done something really bad for them to do that to her." --- how can you even say this? Your ridiculous question actually shows that you 'believe' that women deserve to be RAPED!!!???

7 guys raping 1 girl just to show that they are stronger and better? And they do not even get punished for this for 7 years until she ends up dead? Where is the justice in this? In 7 years those guys would have moved-up or moved-on so much in their lives and careers, but no one was to judge them...only she suffered ...because she was trying to be as best as she could???
Lets say, she might be a bitch in reality and maybe one of those really smart-ass, teacher's pet, good-at-everything, am-the-best-and-i-win-always kind of person (am sure we have come across such boys and girls in our schools and colleges)....but no one deserves to be treated that way. You really have to be sick to even think-up something like that. Sadly......such things seem to happen in every country, every part of the world....every society....every race....every culture.....every civilization.... I do not think there was ever a time in history where Man was not so pathetic. I am not a feminist....am not a cynical person...and I am not a woman...I am a Man....and I thank God..and I thank my Parents....that I am not like those men.

reply

you seriously sound like the most immature ignorant idiotic person throughout this thread...

reply

she was beaten badly bc even when the rescuers found her who were military had freaking tears in their eyes when they saw how bad she looked; these are military men w/tears showing compassion bc of what the lady went through...she was basically raped to death bc it was seven of them raping her all night - taking turns... my dad is ex- marine he would've hunted each and everyone of those SOBs and put a bullet in their head.. the father covering it up made me sick.

How *beep* up to you have to be to take pleasure in seeing a rape victim naked? Even if it is just acting, that's pretty messed up. Get help, please.

...Don't look now, but I think the monotremes are out to get me...

reply

Well,at least we got to see her naked!!!

I know your post is five and a half years old, but holy crap, do you need help. It was the most violent rape scene I've ever seen in a movie and there was nothing pleasurable about watching it. I hope in the time since you posted that you got some serious counseling.

I couldn't even watch. I turned away, but the audio was still disturbing.

I think they are trolling, but if not they deff should seek therapy.

I watched the whole thing and I was crying through most of it. Very sad and disturbing.

Well, it's a little hard to set up a tent without them...

Apparently the concept of soldiers carrying tent gear while out on training exercises is foreign for you.

By the way, space bar. Learn it. Know it. Love it.

I have no idea how that reply fits in to my post about tent stakes; but I see you changed your name (just not your space bar impairment)

dude she was "f-cking" those men AFTER the rape as a way to get back at her father for not protecting her with the rape incident and also was mentally traumatized because of having to keep what happened to her secret not mention having her own father, a general, tell her to just "forget about it" and have no remorse. Yeah for her behavior post incident she should had been discharged but those idiots who raped her should had been charged and put in prison long before that.

also Mark1985 it was made clear in the film that those guys hated her becuase of the fact she was smart and capable...far from a "dumb broad".

reply

[deleted]

no she wasn't "banging" the men who raped her(she didn't even know who they were). she was sleeping around with ranking officers that worked with her father as a pay back sort of thing at her father. She was messed up mentally after the rape so by that time she was starting "lose it" so to speak. As in her grades began to slip and performance in drills were barely getting by, the mind games she was playing against her father, etc. do you get it now?(not being sarcastic btw)

@dethdroogie502: I sympathize with you in the attempt to explain the facts but I'm afraid it's pointless to explain to someone who 1) doesn't remember the movie that well 2) isn't too fond of 'women in the military' 3) probably would have hated her in case he served under her command... so, yeah. Pointless.
I saw the movie yesterday so I remember quite well. But I don't know how can someone forget the important stuff and remember 'something about her being a bitch who deserved it' without being an a-hole. Wait, I know

reply

No, the cadets raped her because she was a good student at West Point, and was better than most of the cadets at many of the related activities. The rape was an expression of power.

reply

Sadly, there seem to be a lot of unreported cases of rape in the military. We still haven't had the full story behind what happened at deepcut barracks.

reply

Rape is more about violence than sex. They hated a woman being among their ranks and rape is one of the most violent things that can be perpetrated on a woman. In many cases they still hate them being there today, though it's lessening, considerably. Eventually the hatred will stop altogether, except with a select few idiots. The sooner, the better.

The plural of mouse is mice. The plural of goose is geese. Why is the plural of moose not meese?

reply

Raped is about control.

I read the book probably in 1997 or so. And it goes into more detail about the rape and why the men who raped her and reasoning behind it. She out ranked them and many felt it was because of her father and they resented her because of that, plus when one of them did something wrong against orders and she turned him in (Elby) and just pissed them off even more. As she got lost in the brush they were stalking her, and that frightened her even more. Then one by one they all grabbed her, tied her up (they carried the stakes and the rope in their packs, so it was premeditated strike against her) they decided to beat her up first and then one of the guys said she needed to be humiliated that's when they raped her.

In the book also, the general's wife Ann was alive. And Fowler's wife (I don't recall her name) had a role in it too. She didn't want him to take the heat for what General Campbell did but she went out to speak with Elizabeth and she refused to come back to the house. The last time Col Fowler went out to talk to her she was already dead and he didn't report it to the General. So he knew before hand when Brenner and Sunhill told him. In the end he didn't get the job when word leaked out.

reply

And violence. And power. It isn't one thing or the other. It's many things. They were angry at her. They got revenge. Simple as that.

reply

She was raped because the movie is a work of fiction and the rape was in the script.

FACT: Rapists don't rape because they have to they rape because they want to. Prove me wrong.
