Why did the film leave out all the racism from the book?


This was a bad choice.

I didn't notice that. I noticed they left out or changed a lot of the more graphically violent scenes though. Like with the bum in the alley or with the rat going up you know where.

I remember not being impressed by the book when it first came out. It had a lot of hype when it was released and I was in college so it had a lot of buzz with my generation.

When I learned of the film adaptation I was curious to see how they translated the gorey content and I have to say that cinematically it delivered its black humor better than it reads from the book.
