reply

yea please bring it back a bit of jet and lightning!! and laughin at falcons mullet!

reply

I just downloaded 2 episodes of the series :) great show! we DO need DVDs of this!

reply

For some reason all the best things seem to be from the past. I wish it would come back but it wouldnt be the same as it was.

Even the last series wernt really the same, I guess it has had its day but i will always remember it.

It is still on Challenge TV if anyone has it.

reply

I love watching it on Challenge but when you think about it, this show was created by the same people who (shortly after it ended) came up with Pop Idol and something tells me a revamped version in a similar vein would suit ITV sat nights.

reply

ah i dont know - i'll go on a diet and start working out if i can go on it and i am a fat lazy cow.
oh i want it back bad

reply

Been watching it on chalenge with my 12 year old son he loves it but settled down to watch the 1993 final and what do you know not on randomly replaced with a celebrity show that was won by John Fash

reply

i watched the finals today, it was on this moring at 8 and repeated on plus 1 at 9, georgina lost and the marshall arts guy with the long hair won, it was pretty good. i didnt want the women who won too, i liked georgina.

Thanks for letting me know

haha i guess not and if they brought it back it wouldnt probably be crap because it would be all new gladiators.
i think alot of the trouble with the ITV stuff is they rely in celebrity reality tv - so its either current D list celebs or people that are trying to become D list celebs so its all kinda dull.

reply

I really wish they would bring this back! I am enjoying watching it on Challenge at the moment. Also agree that they should do DVDs

reply

oh i would so buy a dvd of it, does anyone know where i can merchadise from it, i tried looking on ebay about a week or so ago and came up with nothing, i might make my own tshirts and stuff but then i dont know with copy right laws if i want to see any of it on.

reply

i dunno i really hope they dont try and like do a new updated version or nething coz it was gr8 as it was it was a gr8 show and they should deffo show more repeats but the wierd 80's hairstyles and all that stuff were partly what made it so gr8 i just dont think a new version would work! (but i still think it totally rocked!)

reply

agreed, they should bring it back

reply

here here 100%, it was excellent.

reply

Yeh agreed 100% i used to watch this when i was a kid (im 16 now) and i always loved it especially Wolf he was my favorate gladiator, its a shame its not on anymore it was so great. I think television has gone down the drain now anyway theres just no good programs like this on anymore.

reply

Agreed. Half the rubbish on Sat night tele is aimed at adults now. The kids haven't got anything at all to go on nowadays!

Man, it sucks for the next generation.

reply

I agree. There isn't really anything like gladiators on the telly at the moment.

Yessss! Bring it back!!

reply

I used to love this show and would love to see it make particularly as a few of the old cast would still be able to do it as some are only just in their 30's eg Hunter. However I don't think they would bring it make simply because of the cost of re building the set- which after nearly 7 years I am sure would have been destroyed by now

reply

the set went to sweden for the swedish gladiators

reply

okay

A little too gay, but good for the 90's... Wolfman? was best !

reply

It wouldn't be the same now. It's so different today than 15 years ago. I can just imagine it... picture the scene... The studio decorated totally OTT, flashing signs, flashing lights, Neon gladiators sign in some huge tacky writing, Ant and Dec presenting of course, as they do everything... The gladiators would have one of everyone... male/female/undecided/white/black/mixed/foreign/tall/short/straight/gay/young old... so as not to discriminate against any one group. The women gladiators would be wearing next to nothing, (to get more viewers) so the focus wouldn't even be on the competing of the gladiators and contestants anymore. There'd be the standard "aftermath show" with either Ben Shephard or Claudia Winkleman (or both) where we'd be treated to all those exciting extras and interviews with the contestants.. oooh! And finally, at the end of the two hour show (since its been dragged out and including the twenty minute adverts) there'd probably be a phone vote contest, charged at 50p/text, where Dec would ask a question a monkey could answer. I think id prefer them not to totally ruin the show! Leave it as it was. i still have good memories of this show, lets not ruin it.

I totally agree with everything you've said. plus Ant & Dec get right on my nerves.>:(

reply

They should just repeat all the series on terrestrial. Then EVERYONE could watch them. Even if it was at 11pm, people could record...

This, is where the rich kids come to die...

reply

But a Freeview box only costs about £15, so most people shold be able to afford one.

reply

Some areas cannot pick up freeview signal, so no matter how cheap the box they wouldn't be able to watch. And to some, that £15 is a lot!

reply

Sorry, I just assumed that you could get Freeview signals anywhere.

reply

Nah, it only covers parts of the country, and certain areas. But yes, otherwise, we would all be able to watch gladiators re-runs on freeview and everyone would be happy!

reply

they should seriously bring it back, does anyone actually not like gladiators? The only thing i didnt like was that stupid joust event, and the wolfman of course, lol

reply

I agree Joust was a bit naff, but I don't think they'll bring it back for many reasons, including:
1. HEALTH AND SAFETY (obviously a big thing these days)
2. Prize money - people expect a whole lot more these days!
3. The cheese factor apparently doesn't sell anymore
4. Finding contestants - there are much easier contests these days!
5. It just WOULDN'T BE THE SAME ):

This, is where the rich kids come to die...

reply

It's comeing back, yay!

reply

I am so going to see if I can get tickets for the show. I never got to see the original, so this will have to do

I make a very good friend, & an even better enemy

reply

i was too young for most of the original to go and see it. is it still going to be at the NIA Birmingham?
