I remember, back in 1999/2000, channel 5 showed this program that was similiar to gladiators but with a touch of wrestling style mixed in too.
I believe it was an american import.

And yes it was a wrestling/Gladiators hybrid. It may have sounded cute on paper, but it was horribly executed, which was why it was short-lived.
