It seems the writer's too lazy to think of some other form of antagonism. Full of complete idiots in it that causes all the problems.

With a Special Merit Award for Blind Stupidity to the Brady Bunch mother driving around town, in all the mayhem and danger, with her life and decisions controlled by the whinging child son and brat teenage daughter who, at no stage, simply accept the parent's authority and do exactly as they are told.
You can just see them settling into a bombed out basement in Bosnia for six weeks waiting for the fighting to move on so they can escape. No toilet, no iPod, no McDonalds, perhaps a bit of stale bread and the odd captured rat to eat. They wouldn't know how to survive or how to fight tooth and nail to protect each other for a second - there'd have to be a family committee meeting to hear all opinions before any decision could be made.
How irritating.
Indeed there are a lot of annoying types in this film. The worst by far, is the female news reporter. Her constant politically correct "Our prayers are with..." blah blah blah drives me up the wall. Then her idiotic "George Bush" impersonation. Calling it a "Nucular" explosion, weapon etc. It drives me absolutely bat *beep*
