16mm or digital before blown up to 35mm?

I was wondering if anybody knew whether this was filmed with 16mm or with a camcorder. IMDB says 16mm, but DVD Beaver says camcorder. I would much appreciate any help.

Zhangke introduced this film at MoMA this past Sunday and in his remarks he mentioned it was filmed with 16mm camera, mostly hand held as you can see. He also said it was a 21 day shoot. Also mostly he used his friends from the town as actors (that is his real hometown) and everything was shot on location.
