beat making

I don't think that the beat making part of the film had its place in there...
they didn't explain anything at all, just a gangstarr show in california with premier kicking the beat and saying that he had to do more than djing in order to get 50% of the money
i think that in a documentary about scratching, there should not be anything about beatmaking because its something totally different, it would take another 1h and a half to explain correctly the hsitory of beatmaking... well that's my opinion. Pray should have stuck with turntablism, that's what he made the film about.

overall I liked Scratch

beatmaking and djing go hand and hand...originally djs would loop breaks using there turntables, You can see how it evolved from beat juggling to keep the loop going to throwing a sample into your beatmachine and looping it. Plus i would say 90 percent of all djs become beat making and its like second nature for them because there so use to looping up breaks and manipulating sounds..

I agree with testaskillz, the two things are tied together.

Theyre VERY tied together, i moved from turntablism to beat making, both have their similarities (i do both now)
