Why was there never a 3rd movie?

I was just wondering why is that there was never a 3rd installment.

In real life Pocahontas died on the voyage back. So she would have died on the ship we saw her on at the end of the 2nd movie. Disney would have been maimed for historical inaccurateness if they made a third one.
Not that i would mind if it meant pocahontas ending up with John Smith :D

In real life, there are so many elements that wouldn't work for a Disney movie- dramatic or otherwise. The sequel used the trip to England to build up Pocahontas' relationship with Rolfe, but in real life they left Virginia married and with a son. She may have also been married to Kocoum at one point.

She was actually married to Kocoum but the English kidnapped her (and according to the Native American oral history murdered Kocoum so that he couldn't rescue her).
