Hate the Movie!

I'm Sorry.. but I really hate it.. she should have been with smith.. the other thing ruind the movie!

reply

well in real life she married john rolfe...so they really had no choice...the romance between her and john smith..is most likely just a folk tale.

reply

Well Disney did have a choice...They shouldn't have made the sequel at all. They made an innacurate movie to begin as we all know. But the thing is, people fell in love with the movie and the story, despite the fact that it was historically incorrect. Disney shouldn't have tried redeem themselves by making this sequel because peope already followed the first one and liked the first one. You can't just reverse something when the damage has already been done. Its not like a simple retraction in a history book.

Disney made an incorrect movie the first time and then suddenly decided to tell the real story the second time around? Sorry, but it doesn't work that way. So they can't be surprised that the general audience save a few hated this sequel. They did it to themselves.

You have to remember these movies are for ENTERTAINMENT. And you also should remember that if a story does not seem interesting enough, all companies and such need to enhance it. It's just what they do. You should try to enjoy the movie (unless you hate the actual plot and movie itself)without thinking about historical accurracy. I can watch The Little Mermaid without yelling about the inaccuracy of the shark's behavior.

Smiles, everyone, smiles!

reply

The problem is that this movie's not even entertaining. Just goddam stinky.

Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.

I have not seen the sequel to pocahontas but i can tell you that in the little mermaID AERIAL did not live in the real stoery she4 had given her life for eric but in the disney version she had lived and it was still a good and happy ending. Now i just have to go see the older movie of the little mermiad. Oh yes and one thing in real life she had married over love and fell out of love with ohn smith. I know everyone wants the story to be a happy ending with john smith getting with her but no thats not what happened. But i agree if they were so interested in telling the real story about pocahontas they should have brought up the fact that she had died with tuburculosis. But hey thats disney it cant make the kids upset./ But hey anyone who wants to see a good ending of a story that was regularly before disney got a hold of it get the little mermaid which is the tale told by hans christian anderson who tells the real version which is not a very happy one - she does not get her loved one, even though visiting a witch and agreeing to give the witch her tongue, in exchange for legs to replace her fish tail. And every step she took on her legs, hurt like she was walking on swords. So in order to get her love, she became a mute and was in pain with every step she took. according to hans christian anderson

Oh come on, it's not that bad! It is the sequel to one of the weaker Disney efforts, bear in mind.

reply

OMG i hated it too
i dont flipping care if its historically acurate
Disney is about happily ever after and true love
and the just screwed it up
seriosly i almost cried it was so bad
i couldnt beleive how horrible it was
...
disney sequals blow
actually aladdin 3 was cute
and The Little Mermaid 2/Lion King 2, 1 1/2 was ok
but the rest should never have been made

reply

The only Disney sequels I EVER liked were Lion King 2 (but not the 1 1/2-yuck) Aladdin 2, and The Rescuers: Down Under. Other sequels just dont capture the essense of Disney and all that it represents. I dont know why but I dont think there will ever be new Disney movies that will be as good as the originals. There is just something about them...

reply

i just saw this movie.. *cries* i wish i hadnt..

although Billy Zane made that rolfe dude sound hot.. that was it. i wish id never seen it.

I totally feel your pain britishsatan. I didn't like the sequel very much. At the end of it I sitting feeling anger and sad by the way they ended it. I know that Pocahontas and Smith weren't going to be together but at least give me a better excuse than Smith being a wondering spirit that can't stay in one place and Pocahantas just wanting to stay home.

I was very disappointed.

reply

Does anyone here think Pocahontas is just a *beep* b-i-t-c-h???

Ok, first of all, she dumped and get her fiance killed in Pocahontas I, apparently by the likes of John Smith. And then she fell madly in love with Smith and didn't give a rats ass about her whole tribe...and in Pocahontas II, suddenly Smith's character tends to be a bit of a jerk and she easily replaced Smith with Rolfe???? WTF is that??!! If Disney soooo wanted to follow the historical truth...why don't they make Pocahontas III, and tell us how she died because of TBC???!!!

reply

It wasn't her fiance, because she never agreed to marry him. I HATE THIS MOVIE, IT SPOILED ALL THE MAGIC OF THE FIRST MOVIE!

reply

this movie wouldnt be so bad if there was more conflict. everything was resolved so easily! like in the beginning, you are supposed to think that John Smith died so easily! I was really pissed about that until he came back. plus when John Smith found out that John Rolfe loved Pocahontas, he didn't even do anything! it's like he barely cared that another man loved the woman that he loved! and when Pocahontas chose John Rolfe, John Smith didnt even seem upset! He shoould have put up a fight to get her back! plus I don't like how they changed Smith's character around. he seemed a little conceited in this movie, but he wasnt like that in the first one.

reply

I don't "hate" the movie.. I kinda "dislike" it.

Couldn't she have BOTH men? I mean c'mon! lol..

AND WHATS WITH BOTH OF THEIR NAMES BEING "JOHN"??????
WTF MAN!!?? JEEEEZUZ!!

reply

I concur. She should have had both of them. Both were hot.

reply

This was the 17th century. There wasn't a choice. She was betrothed whether she wanted it or not.

reply

YES I AGREE ABOUT HOW BILLY ZANE MADE JOHN ROLFE SOUND HOT! lol thats why i liked the movie

reply

well we cant blame Disney on Pocahontas picking John Rolfe because in real life thats who she did marry. And there are other facts that make the two movies insabordinate to real historical facts. but i really dont want to get into that.

what disney should of done is added some real(or more) historical points into the movies..or my idea and that to have done both movies together. Because watching the first one and loving so much ..the second just makes me p.o'd and bitter.

I agree with johnnydepplover417. What the hell is with both their names being John?

And if you like the first movie, never, ever, EVER watch the second one. It ruined the original one for me, seeing what they went through, and she'd just pick the other guy anyway.

This happens as well in the live-action movie starring Colin Farrell, who plays John Smith. She should have stayed with him.

Who came up with this brilliant idea to do a sequel? They oughtta be shot.

reply

I get the impression that if the original "Pocahontas" was "Caddyshack", this is "Caddyshack 2". =)

reply

The men are both named 'John' because they were both named 'John' in real life. It's a very common name.

I kind of wish Disney had continued with the historical-innacuracy, and made Pocahontas end up with John Smith.

I thought the first movie had a beautiful story (regardless of it's innacuracy) and it was kinda ruined with the mess Disney made trying to make Pocahontas's London journey accurate.

In the first movie John Smith says he will come back for Pocahontas, and that he will always love her.
Then in the second movie, he just didn't really care for her.

Why oh why couldn't Disney just stay historically innacurate?!

i hate this movie- i recently wrote an essay in another board. lol- so i'll keep this as short as possible. disney wasnt historically accurate in the first why start in the second one.
the first movie has been spoiled for me noe- i always cry at the end because i know whats going to happen even thought i pretend i dont know. smith & pocahontas were in love. she was willing to die for him. disney spoiled the magic of the first one.

i've recently had a hard time in the dating zone & seeing the 'if i never knew you' song always makes me cry- partly cause i wish i was dating someone who looks exactly like smith & to have the kind of love that they share with someone. it amazes me that they throw it away so easily.

i hope you will all follow me in making a complaint to disney & urging them to disregard the 2nd & re-make it in effect. i will link them to these types of pages & if they are bombarded with emails saying that they will definatly buy the new sequal where she ends up with john & they are happy.

[email protected]

hopefully your emails will get to the right place here- disney make it very hard to find a complaints department hoping that you will give up. if anyone has a better link please post it

& PLEASE EMAIL DISNEY & SHARE YOUR VIEWS. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED

i'm off to cry myself to sleep
lol xx

I know Smith's character regressed a great deal, but Pocahontas did as well. I thought she should have been more grateful that Smith was the one who saved her life--twice, not Rolfe. He had no idea how to get her out of prison until Smith showed up; not to mention, Smith did all the fighting--and she still blatantly dumped him for Rolfe. Makes no sense to me. If a man saved my life, I'd be eternally grateful.

And we're supposed to believe Pocahontas goes searching for Rolfe and goes back to the new world as if Smith never existed...and Smith is fine with her walking out of his life?
