disappointing

I have to say the ending made me sad because John Smith still loved her and she chose John Rolfe. I know the whole story Disney did is messed up anyway, but she really did choose John Rolfe in the end even after her whole history with Smith. Anyway! I just have to say this movie disappointed me and I'm not sure if I can watch the first one the same again.

I guess its because they wanted this movie to be historically correct this time around but Im gonna pretend like this sequel never happen. You know what? They shouldve kept Smith dead.

Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway. ;P

I liked the fact that she fell in love with John Rolfe in the movie, but I think that is because I read her biography and I wanted it to be like in real life. What I don't like, is that they made it seem like Pocahontas was in love with John Smith in the first movie. They shouldn't have done that, if they didn't, the second movie would have seemed better.

Yeah, but since they did the second movie, they shouldn't have made them in love in the first one.

John Smith and Pocahontas in LOVE!?!?!?!?!? In reality, she was a 12 year old GIRL when she rescued him. The first movie was ridiculously Hollywoodized. Honestly. If they wanna' make a good movie, they need to get the story STRAIGHT!

She did marry John Rolfe, she became a Christian and was baptized and given the name Rebekah, she had son, and she died of small pox on her way back to America. It may sound tragic, but it's HISTORY PEOPLE! Didn't they ever go to school and learn about that in their history classes?

Yes, but if that's the case, why did they even base it on Pocahontas's life? If it's not going to be the real story, why didn't they just choose and come up with different characters? That's the only problem with Disney movies. I bet that most of the people that went to see the movie thought it would be the whole story of Pocahontas.

Well, both movies envolve all of that romance stuff. We're kids, and we're not crazy about it.

I think you've got something wrong...
At the end of the Pocahontas II, Pocahontas and John Smith agreed that they're better to brake up, because he wants adventures... Someone here says that HE was in love with HER when "she dumped him"?! That's not truth!

Come on guys, really! All Disney movies are changed, yes she marries John Rolfe and goes back to England and dies, but what kinda kids movie is that? Take The Little Mermaid for instance, I don't think I've met a person who doesn't like that movie, but it's totally changed from the orignal story. Ariel falls in love with a human and makes a deal with the witch to get legs and go up on land, in exchange for her voice, OK nothings changed. Then she goes to the Prince they have a good time, he falls in love with someone else and gets married, when her sisters hear about this they sell their long, beautiful hair to get legs. They take a knife to their sister and say if Ariel kills the Prince she can come back to the ocean as a mermaid. That night when he is sleeping she goes into her room and tries to kill him, but she can't because she loves him. Instead she kills herself. So a good kids movie? I don't think so!

Even though the first Pocahontas wasn't "historically correct" it was fun and entertaining! I loved how the movie ended it was sweet! The second one did end with her ending up with the guy she did in real life, but thats no fun! Not after her and John Smith had that forbidden love affair, I mean COME ON!! If you want something historically corrrect, go and watch The New World, not a disney movie.

I liked that in the first movie we can pretend that eventually Pocahantos and John Smith are together, and that they were in love. And that they are so in love that they cant possibly fall in love with someone else. It sort of follows the guideline of disneys happily ever after business. Then they go and make a second one. Now a kid that doesnt know any of the historical stuff, which ill admit i didnt know until recently, they get their pretty little image all screwed up because disney wanted to somewhat follow real history. And thats what disney does, makes up stories to give inspiration to kids. I dont know why they made a second one. They shouldnt have. They should have just left it. Let someone else make the historically correct version of pocohantas (i.e The new world) and so when they grow up and are actually interested in what really happened, they can watch that. Even though the real world isnt historically correct, because their isnt actually any proof that pocahantas loved john smith. but hey, im not complaining, i like a good love story as much as the next person

I could cry when I watch Pocahontas II because I LOVED the original Pocahontas and her relationship with John is the most heart-warming on any television, animated or live-action. For John, she gave everything. She betrayed the only person she trusts(her father) and she ultimately gets her husband killed. Despite that, she jumps in the way of a turtle shell that was going to bump into Joh Smith's head and kill him. She races against time to save the man she loves with her heart. Not to mention that she talked to him through her heart. It was a true romance.

Pocahontas II was bland and stupid and even though it was correct, I still hate it. I want to watch Pocahontas, not a mutha******* biography!

reply

well in the first movie pocahntas or John smith(i cant remember) says something like, "we cant be together until all the fighting stops". The fighting didnt stop so....

reply

who cares about the fighting...i was just watchin the movie and i think it was one of the best disney movies i've ever seen (other than Pirates). Disney is stupid for trying to entertain little kids one day with a completely fictional tale and then giving them the facts the next day (figuratively speaking of course). It was a great story for little kids and i think it is traumatizing to make a child have to sit through the second one after watchin the first one.

Of course Pocahontas and John Smith had to be in love. It's a disney movie!!Every disney movie has a love story.Pocahontas is one of my favorite disney movies, and I think it's a classic disney movie. The only one movie that has a realistic ending. In not every movie does the girl get the guy or vice versa.

It's not part of the basic curriculum, I've heard from one critic of the movie.

I know what you're saying this movie was a good historically correct movie though the first one wasn't so it really made no sence to correct it. I prefer the first one too I mean it really wasn't as interesting as the original. I think that is's OK but it could have been so much better.

Disney does change the past history of their movies like The Lion King released a popular sequel book (The Lion King: Six New Adventures) where Simba had a son named Koba and in the movie sequel he has a daughter. I think that that's just crazy I would have at least liked a refrence to Koba in the sequel. They still consider the other stories about Scar and Mufasa's past to be canonical too that's just weird. If you want to hear about it here's a link:
