this movie is no more historically accurate than the first one

It's really annoying to see people saying: "Well read up on your history, Pocahontas married John Rolfe so this movie is more accurate than the first one!"

Seriously, that's a horrible argument. Nothing in this movie was historically accurate. At least the original film had a great story -- this was just an attempt to profit off a brand that already existed. Disney wasn't trying to set Pocahontas's story straight, they wanted to make a quick buck, so they took a magnificent movie and made a crappy sequel that cancelled out the entire previous story. Sad, but true.

How do people not understand this?

Totally agree. I'm watching it now for the first time. They're drinking tea - tea didn't arrive in England until about 60 years later. The clothes are all wrong; most of the dresses appear to be at least 50 years outdated, while the rest of them contain design elements that hadn't been invented yet (including hats on the women). Queen Anne's hairstyle is about 45 years out of date, while Pocahontas, when presented to the king and the queen, has a hairstyle that didn't show up until about 180 years after the film takes place. How difficult could it have been to check up on this stuff? Especially with the unlimited amount of resources Disney probably has?

Agreed. Well said.

John Smith was believed to be dead a long time. Pocahontas moved on as people do. I wouldn't get back with him either.

In the movie, they went back to America, but didn't she die in England?

I was on here looking to see if anybody else had something to say about the ending also..she died on a ship with her husband John and their child..I could have sworn that it was in this movie but watching it now with my daughter it doesn't have it added. I guess it's been too many years since I saw this movie.
