I liked it too...but I really do wish she ended up with John Smith.....

reply

me 2 and yea I didn't like that other creep.

reply

Generally I dislike sequels. Nearly all sequels just turn out to be rubbish.

I really like this movie. I do wish she'd ended up with Smith, but the historian in me finds it just as romantic to be with Rolphe.

Where is it? Where is the thump thump?

The animation was a little rubbish and the historical accuracy was also kinda rubbish, but I liked this movie. I thought there were some really nice moments and Billy Zane did a good job as Rolfe.

I'm glad Pocahontas and Rolfe ended up together, I think they were better suited, I never really liked Smith.

What do you mean historically inacurate... haven't you ever seen a talking tree, or heard a bunch of people walking around london singing about how the day was... I think it cleaned up london better in the film than what london is in real life.. I mean come on they had shakespear. lol.... anyway hope nobody takes this seriously cause its not meant to be... anyway I like the movie it was fun to see how her character changed and how she became lost in a society of people she didn't know much about. I know its not all the same but watching pocahontas is like watching a harry potter movie... you know the history if you read the books, however the film never does it its complete justice. Yeah in many ways you can say the film sucked, as could you with the first movie.... Was Disney trying to make a documentary? HELLLL NO... they did it for entertainment purposes, and for anyone to knock Pocahontas you might as well yell at FOX for making Anastasia... I mean nobody knows if she lived or died and I doubt she had a little white bat resurrecting a mad man from beyond the grave in real life. Lets face it people these are cartoons, and Disneys Pocahontas was not the first cartoon of Pocahontas, they just happen to be a larger company that is well known for its movies, and to be honest the reason pocahontas didn't make it huge was cause the first CGI movie came out to theaters (TOY STORY) people like to gripe but would they have said the same thing if TOY STORY came out the same year as LION KING. Whatever your choice is you are welcome to have it, however don't know people for what they think of a good film.

I however really liked this movie and I give Pocahontas II 1 thumb up and a pinky... the film was entertaining, come on the poor chick landed herself up in jail. And the jail break was fun. The only thing that I was disappointed in was the fact that its dvd release lacked bonus features, such as deleted scenes... documentary, cast interviews, and perhaps an integrated scene in the film. You know perhaps an extended ending with the ending credits song. Anyway this is my oppinion only and it only matters to me.... the same as everyone else on this site. Well gotta go for now. take care..

I liked it too. I think people are forgetting that this is the sequel to of the weaker Disney efforts, although the original is a lovely film nonetheless, if flawed in the character development and scripting.

I loved this movie as a kid and I still like it now. The first one was obviously better, but I thought this one was good, too.

Some secrets need to be kept,
Some stories should never be told...

I enjoyed it too, even the songs I found fun

I liked it when i was little, i even had it on video. But i've since changed my opinion of it now that i'm older. LOL.
I also liked return of jafar when i was little but now recognise it for the drivel it is.

But seriously, its like Disny slapped their foreheads and went "whoops we forgot that she was with John Rolfe in history" and decided to disregard the entire point of the first movie just to make it right historically.
I know a lot of people complained about the historical innacuracy of the first movie but to be honest i didn't care when i was a kid and i still don't now. I loved the movie anyway and even as a kid i thought there was something wrong with her ending up with John Rolfe after everything she went through with John Smith.

Anyway, i'm done ranting now. LOL.

Ok as we all know, Pocahontas wasn't the best princess that Disney decided to do. As we all know she is its gotten hard to find toys and all of her. But that being said, I don't think the sequel was that bad. It was enjoyable. Was is the best sequel? nope, but if you take it for what its worth it was something you could sit and enjoy.

These movies werent about accuracy, these movies were just about being pleasant to watch and happy endings. How all Disney movies are.

It seems the biggest complaint is about her choosing Rolfe over Smith. Since I thought the romance from the first movie seemed very tacked on, I didn't mind this turn in the story at all.

It's been several months since I've seen these movies, but at the time I thought the sequel was a more enjoyable watch (though the animation and most of the songs aren't as good).

One scene I definitely laughed out loud at was with Pocahontas and both Johns:

Smith: (speaking to John Rolfe) "Tell her she's crazy!"

Rolfe: (Saying it slowly and quietly while looking into her eyes) "You're crazy."

Smith: *facepalm*

I also thought Ratcliffe was much more sinister this time around.

I also like it. Obviously the first one was WAY better, but compared to other Disney sequels (The Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast had dreadful sequels) it was a pretty cute movie IMO. I think most people hate it mostly for Pocahontas not ending up with John Smith.

reply

It was okay...like if I was bored and this was on tv, yeah, I'd sit and watch it.
