candidate for the Worst Movie EVER?

This movie is so corny that I thought it had to be really old, like from the early 80's. It even looked old and cheesy (the print, at least, was very light, too hot overall), and the presence of Billy Baldwin sort of sealed the deal in the cheesy category except that I knew it couldn't be that old because he was like a teenager in the early 80's, but it just had that feel. I was torn. I tried to like it because there were moments when it got real earnest and sincere. You don't want to hate a movie that tries this hard. And the humor, while utterly puerile, was also engaging and, yes, earnest and sincere. It was trying to be some kind of combination of The Big Chill X American Pie. It was neither, and the combo didn't really come off, but its heart was in the right place at least.

I understand why some people liked it, I liked the same things about it, however it was just too amateurish and too poorly done: poorly written, poorly shot, poorly edited. It is the director's one and only film, and I can see how he might not ever be hired again. It is close to - but not quite - the Worst Movie EVER.

or it flat out was the worst movie ever. very close close or worst; one or the other.

Tru dat, bob.

reply

OK, it's no classic, but it's hardly the worst film ever. Anything with Robert Downey Jr.is worth sitting through. And you have the wrong Baldwin...Stephen Baldwin appeared in this movie, not Billy. Billy currently has a starring role on the new ABC DIRTY SEXY MONEY.

reply

Yeah Downey is a great actor and he is in this but this was probably the worst role and performance of his career so i don't see how that is a positive.

It's pretty awful, though Alison Eastwood's sex scene partly redeemed it for me.

The war is not meant to be won... it is meant to be continuous.
