What happened to Batgirl?

I know this is an old thread, but I finally just got around to seeing this!

Anyway, in the beginning, Batgirl is whomping on a group of what look like football players and wiping the ground with them.

Then she takes off her Batgirl suit and turns into a complete wuss.

Against Mr. Freeze, OK, I mean he's held his own against Batman in the past, but the doctor?

She shoulda left him with many broken bones and wearing his balls for earrings...

Just an observation.

Complete wuss?? Number one, she wasn't trained by anyone, let alone Bruce, until after The Lost Years and into Gotham Knights (TNBA). So the way she fights in Subzero (and in her BTAS episodes preceding them) is totally her own training from her Dad being a cop and from being a gymnast. She isn't a trained fighter, just a tough, very strong rookie. And she slays.

And she SLAYS in the movie! She actually does beat up the doctor, Gregory Belson: she hits him with the chain, evades him during multiple chases, flips a medical gurney over on him, kicks Mr. Freeze, saves herself and Nora, and does amazing flips to escape the polar bears.

How does that make her a wuss??? Barbara has always been tough as nails whether or not she's wearing the costume. Remember, in that fight where she's defending the college guys from attacking that jogger, she punches one, kicks one in the nuts, and dodges the others.... She's not doing crazy Kung-fu moved on them, she's brawling like the amateur crime-fighter she is, and she does an amazing job on hand-to-hand combat. She becomes a better fighter as the TV series and comics progress, clearly... But before the Lost Years she is nowhere near a well-trained martial arts master. Bruce even comments on her combat skills in The Lost Years, saying she doesn't watch her back/keeps her left side vulnerable to attack.

Barbara is not a super-powered meta-human, she's a real person with relatable actions. Even batman & robin aren't these invulnerable masters who can level 10 opponents without getting a scratch on them. Obviously Bruce is an amazing master of martial arts, as well as Black Canary and Hunteess, all brilliant fighters, sure.. But they're HUMAN, and Barbara is a lot less skilled than they are.

I don't know what movie you were watching, but Barbara kicked butt in this film, it was her story and she is the one who ended up saving the day and making everything work out, despite being kidnapped and abused the entire film. She's amazing ???
