Your Play School memories

I think you would be very, very hard pressed to find an Australian born after the 60's who did not have Play School in their lives.

So what are your memories of Play School as a child? Do you now watch it with your kids?

Who was your favourite presenter?

And, perhaps a rather interesting question, which of the windows was your favourite and the one you hoped for when they looked through the windows.

I remember Playschool in the yellow house with the drums and then the coloured tiled play school. The useful box (I had one of my own as well as the Useful Book), Warren the pianist and Bip and Bop, the play school gold fish.

The best calendar would have had to have been the one with all the ramps and the coloured balls, and I always loved it when I saw it. And it was so good on Fridays to see all the balls running down the ramps. Sometimes they got stuck.

The old red, orange and blue rocket clock that later gave way to the pink, yellow and light blue one.

And of course, the songs! Who can forget those? A few:

Put your finger on your nose
When you are happy and you know it clap your hands
This little girl/boy all ready for bed
Two fat gentlemen
Wiggly woo
Zoom!
The one about the apple tree (forget the name)
Here's a house, with a floor, with a wall...
My hat it has three corners
Standing on one leg
Do your ears hang low
Ming Mang Mong

my favourite presenters would have to be John and Benita, as those are the two I most remember growing up. If I met them I would thank them. George would be a close second as he was rather funny and Trisha I happened to meet one morning in Manly.

One of my friends had an encounter with Jay at Celebration IV. He asked him if he was going back to play school and Jay did a double take shouting "Who told you that?"

And the windows, I always liked the arched window. There is supposed to be something spooky or revealing about which windows you liked in Play School

Obi-Wan is my hero!
