this cartoon is very racist, I couln't help but fall in love with the woman who was singings voice. It seems very familiar to me, anyone know who it is? My thanks in advance.
shareThe singing voice of the sexy mama in the cartoon, sounds alot like Ethel Waters to me. This cartoon was released during the time period that Ethel Waters was popular in, the 1940's. But it also sounds like it could be Lena Horne's singing voice also. But it sounds much more like Ethel Waters to me.

........The caricature looked more like Lena Horn then Ethel Waters. Maybe they wanted Lena Horn who appeared in a number of non cartoon at that time, but she was too classy to do it so they found an uncredited studio singer to do her voice. If Ethel Waters did do it she might have demanded the character not look like her. Then again the might have used a studio singer and hoped people would think it was Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge or some other well known black singer. I'm somewhat sure it wasn't Mel Blanc. Anyway I don't think we'll ever know.
