Rural but not idylic... May contain spoilers

This film reminded me of Sweet Land...the rural setting, the female protagonist who doesn't speak the language, the spending for labor-saving machinery that breaks the budget. The difference lies in the dark underside of the story. The bad guys didn't think things through...isolation, more than probable ownership of guns and the willingness to use them to kill humans, the place to bury the bodies. Still, you have hope that the two protagonists are able to live out the remainder of their days in peace and tranquility.

how did he keep the farm thru the harvest?
his bridge loan was denied.

i thought it was going to break my heart at the end when it appeared she was leaving after he had fallen in love with her.
but she miraculously returned to live happily ever after.
sappy but happy.

They didn't think things through?! First the dude refuses to pay and stands there with a dumb look on his face, getting himself beaten and his brave dog killed. Then when he knows two guys are going to show up he fires both rounds from his two-shot gun into the older one, while the young guy comes up behind him. At least he's going to support that ugly woman and her kid so that the taxpayers don't, and hopefully he won't spawn another retard
