Dog Scene

Did anyone else wonder what was up with the dog watching Corso after he fled from the Baroness' dwellings? Did the dog have anything to do with Green Eyes, like a sort of familiar as stated earlier on in the film by Balkan?

reply

Green Eyes seems to be able to shape-shift, maybe it was actually her rather than a familiar......

Your explanation is a good one though....

That's actually pretty interesting...it reminds me of the scene at the airport. Corso and the girl are waiting in line, but when he turns around, she is gone. Instead, we see a young girl with blonde hair...the girl?

reply

I should think so, as when she's riding Corso outside the burning castle, her face shape-shifts several times, into Liana Telfer, and also (rather disturbingly, as she's played by Roman Polanski's real daughter), the girl at the airport, before morphing back to Emmanuelle Seigner...

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...

reply

I think the most interesting is when Corso walks in on Balkan at the castle arranging the nine gates. Above Corso we see the sky with clouds. The clouds form the face of Green Eyes, looking down at him.

reply

Almost certainly related to The Girl in some way. Whether it was her or a familar as you say.

At least two of the illustrated pages within the Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows have dogs in them although this may be pure coincidence, what do y’all think?
