Those last lines where the guy says to come to him when the boy gets older and he'll be waiting. It reminded me a lot of the Vernita Green chapter in Kill Bill Volume One. Does anyone know if this is an official homage?

Was it ever acknowledged? This seems like the kind of thing that happened in a dozen 70s and 80s kung fu movies - right down to Chen Sing saying it to the kid in Heroes of Shaolin. This theme is old hat for Asian cinema.

yes he has a time machine, went into the future to 2003 when kill bill was made saw it, then traveled back in time to 1997 when this was made then ripped it off. that makes so much sense.
