The animation is cleaner, but..

I was looking through the reviews of this movie, and they all seemed to go on about how it has great animation and is the best of the Dragon Ball movies. Sure, the animation was "better"(I prefer Dragon Ball with an old school look, but from a technical standpoint it was better), but it felt lacking in a lot of areas. For starters, the script wasn't great. Lots of times the characters would say things that felt out of place for that character. Also, I watched through all of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z last year, and don't remember Goku's voice actor being as bad as she is here. I LOVED her performance as Goku in Dragon Ball, but cringed whenever he opened his mouth in this movie. The whole thing just didn't feel right

Anybody else feel this way or does everybody disagree?

the script wasn't great.

That's an understatement, since it's a remake of a bunch of episodes. And it's not the first time they've done that. I don't get what's the point, but either way, this was a waste of time (better quality or not).

I don't know which version you saw, but the English dub is not very faithful to the Japanese. But then again: same goes for the Englis dub of the series.
