im actually watching the whole remasterd uncut version of dbz and im trying to watch the series and the movies to its right order and wer does these 2(specials) fit in between the seasons
shareThe Bardock special takes place long before the start of Dragon Ball. The Trunks special is set ina lternate universe when Goku actually dies from his heart virus. They should be viewed after you watch the series.

Bardock is the father of Goku. His story takes place on planet Vegeta when Goku was a baby. Frieza actually controls the planet which you find out in the Frieza saga. He obliterated the planet killing everyone except for Broly, Goku, Vegeta and their cohorts respectively.
Its a very sad story and most people already know the outcome. One thing that always bothered me is that when they used the Nemekian Dragonballs to wish back everyone Frieza had killed, why didn't Planet Vegeta and more importantly Bardock return to life, or why doesn't Goku ever see his father when he goes to the Other World and HFIL (Hell). Never made sense to me.
The History of Trunks gives a better insight to when Future Trunks came to give Goku the antidote before the Androids showed up. Its more of how he came to the past and what the world was like when Goku actually did die from the Heart disease. It honestly fits in right before the Android saga and Future Trunks shows up. You see him go back and destroy his version of the Androids after Cell was defeated so its more a beginning rather than a close his alternate universe.
Probably should squeeze the Bardock movie in sometime right after it's revealed that Freeza destroyed planet Vegeta and the Saiyans.
The Trunks movie should be watched right before the Android Saga, or perhaps right after the first episode that Trunks shows up in.
Once they are dead for a full year they cannot come back.
