Banderas inspired by Nurse Betty ?

Hi everyone,
I wanted to know if other people feel the same as I do. After watching Crazy in Alabama and Nurse Betty several times, I realized that both films share a similar basis. A woman whose husband has died, goes off the rails and leaves home for Hollywood to live a new virtual life. Although the topics of the films are different (racism, segregation and fame in Crazy in Alabama, love quest and hitmen in Nurse Betty), I think the way of shooting, this crazy road-movie style make them close to each other. I like both films, and at the beginning I really thought Antonio Banderas had had a very original idea and way of filming, but I tend to think he was inspired by Neil LaBute's ideas. Does anyone share my point of view ?
Pardon my English by the way !

Hi sick ghost, and thanks for your reply.

I made a rookie mistake ! I had always thought that Nurse Betty was older. But anyway, the contrary could be working, no ?

Was Neil LaBute inspired by the plot of Crazy in Alabama ?

Until you mentioned it I didn't connect the two, but you're absolutely right. They definitely share similarities and came out less than a year apart in 1999-2000. They even have the same quirky tone with black humor mixed with social commentary.
