the worst movie i've seen this month

Boring, buddy cop movie and lot of action. Mark Wahlberg can't act. I wonder how James Foley directed something like that

reply

I agree with you, this movie is boring

reply

One of the better car chases in recent memory though

reply

Yeah, I agree. He surely can't act.. The only good thing in this movie was Chow Yun-Fat.

You peeps have little taste for the genre. One of the better gangland movies of the 90s.

reply

i liked it. good action.

reply

Chow Yun Fat or Yun Fat Chow was kick ass in this movie as Nick Chen. I thought Mark Wahlberg was terrible especially with his fake New York accent.

I buried those cockaroaches Tony Montana (Scarface)

reply

"fake new york accent" ... you see, that's funny, cause that's his REAL accent and he just happens to be from New York.

reply

Good film, not Oscar worthy of course but stylish, zippy, good action sequences, good plot. I liked it.

reply

Mark Wahlberg is from Massachusetts, I'm sure he has that MA accent which is not that different from the NY accent

reply

I saw this movie in the theatres in 99. Stumbled across it on encore 2nite. I recorded it and will watch it later. I dont remember much, what i do remember from watching it back in 99 was that it was a bad movie, i was only 17 then so maybe my opinion will change.

I do remember the soundtrack being off the hook though.

reply

I didn't enjoy this movie at all, the story wasn't very interesting and the action wasn't all that great. I thought Mark was the highlight of the film and Fat was useless, the man needs to stay in Asia. His English sucks, I could barely understand the gibberish coming out of his mouth and his character was far beyond annoying.

reply

It wasn't Citizen Kane, but not a bad late night action thriller.

reply

Um....mark's from massachusettes:S

Exactly. Actually I'm looking for other movies in this vain. Can you name any other great 90's gangland movies? I prefer 90's, but any other era is good. And don't say Gangs Of NY.

reply

Mark Wahlberg is from Boston. His accent and everyone else's in The Departed sounded very strange. is that really how people there talk?

this was a well made cop drama. the action is hit or miss (i loved the opening sequence, chow's first kill was awesome and the car chase was great). the two lead characters were interesting i cared what happened to them. what i liked about the movie was, like the departed, everybody is flawed...even the "hero" of the film. in no way am i comparing the two, as the departed is far superior, but it's nice to see an action film that doesn't have absoultely good heroes vs. absolutely bad villians. as for walhberg's acting, this was his 2nd movie (i believe) where he had a major role. give him a break. he was decent in this movie.

Must have been a great month for you!

reply

Very good, realistic movie with great acting from the two leads especially Mark Wahlberg.

reply

My main problem was that chow's accent made it very difficult to understand most things that his character said.

reply

If you find Chow hard to understand you must have led a real protected life. I have no problem at all and I think he is one of the best actors I have ever had the pleasure to watch. His performance in Anna and the King is nothing short of outstanding.

reply

Wahlberg was weak but the movie was fun.

Its that man again!!
