Did anyone else get the feeling that with "Bird People in China", Miike managed to make a Werner Herzog film? I mean, all the elements are there... I am talking about Herzog's "indigenous people" films - "Aguirra", "Fitzcaraldo"...
shareYes, it was very close. I thought of Herzog frequently through the river and mountain scenes.
But mostly, I thought it was a remake of "Local Hero" ... as the next poster suggests.
