Are you sure that there are people who believe it?
First off, the aliens look very fake, especially in the ending. And, probably the most obvious thing...they mention the actors' real names in the credits.

yep fake especially when in the credit someone is mentionned under space ship design...
shareI thought it was like a real thing until early in the film the charaacter showed they had a back story. The brother doesnt like the black guy, the mother is a druck, & it was a blackout out of the blue. But in the beggining with the intro they try to make it seem like it was actual footage & had interviews with directors & such but yeah you could tell it was fake after 20 minutes

well when i saw it on upn i was like 8 or 9 and yes i thought it was real. it scared me so much that to this day i still remember it lol. i rewatched it and realized how hokey it is now

I thought it was real when I watched this as a kid... until the credits came up and said they were actors.
