A very fascinating show

Teletubbies is hardly quality television. But it's definitely one of the most interesting kids shows. Not because it's intellectual or thought provoking, but because of how it's made. Even though the episodes have plots, they really feel more like exercises in absolute insanity. All these characters just jump around and act goofy, to a setting which is colorful and bright, but feels very isolated at the same time. There was always something claustrophobic about that setting even as a kid. They are just these four weirdos completely alone there and doing nonsensical stuff. Some of the things that happen are also so absurd and sometimes even creepy that you can't help but either laugh or just be fascinated in a how-did-they-even-come-up-with-that way. And as if that wasn't weird enough, we have a baby as a sun.

This is why I don't hate Teletubbies. It's so unusual and radically different from any other toddler shows that it's worth observing and analyzing.
