The books were produced long after the show had ceased filming. When the series "Eerie Indiana: The Other Dimension" was produced (with different characters and stories), a writer was hired to create a book series in order to add publicity for the series. He used the original characters, Marshall Teller and Simon Holmes.

Most of the books were original stories, as were the television programs (one was not based on the other and vice-versa).

So, you've never even seen one episode of the original Marshall/Simon series?

I have seen a few episodes of The Other Dimension but I bought almost all the books and the books are better! They're not novelizations entirely. The first book is about "Foreverware" based on an episode from the original series and they are very different from one another. The books are definitely better than The Other Dimension.
