Music: Imperial Palace/Padishah Emperor Theme?

Huge request everyone: I have already checked out the soundtrack/score to Dune, but I CANNOT for the life of me find a particular piece of music from the miniseries. Its the theme(s) of the Imperial Palace/Emperor Theme (my description, no idea what it is really called) playing in about 3 scenes whenever Imperial plots are going to be introduced. (For those with the DVD, it is Act I scene VII, and Act II scene I for sure, and one other one). Its some sort of a full orchestral violin/cello piece, sounds kind of like French or Austrian court music and it complements the scene perfectly. If anyone knows how to procure it or even just the title, I'd be hugely grateful, thank you:).

reply

*hopefully* Anybody have any idea?..........

reply

.............Any idea where I COULD go for any ideas? I take it this particular track is obscure.......?

reply

Any ideas whatsoever about looking it up, even? I've tried all the sountracks and its not there.

reply

I have been hunting for it as well but I can not find it anywhere. This is why I hate movie scores, half the time there is music missing from the so called "Complete score" of the movie. If you have *any* luck finding it tell me where I can get it? Thanks.

- Virtual.

reply

Certainly I will, glad somebody else is looking for it, was afraid no one knew what I was talking about:) Its by far the best piece of music in the film--figures, right?

reply

Still interested, in case anyone knows.

reply

You may have tried this already, I don't know, but this site: http://thedune.ru/audio.html has info on all the soundtracks for everything Dune related - including soundtracks to the video games, movies and miniseries.

You might get lucky. Good hunting!

If Plan A doesn't work, you should have a Plan B, not Plan A recycled

reply

Thanks for the info, that is a very cool site:). Unfortunatley, it, too, does not appear to have the specific piece, so I am back to square one. Thanks for your help, though:).

Explain better what you mean with "Act I scene VII, and Act II scene I for sure". I have the DVD, so it would be better if you would tell me exactly what chapter the music you are looking for is found.

I'm hearing what I think you are looking for, it starts in chapter 3 of the second dvd of the Collector's Edition version, the chapter is called Irulan's Wrath. Confirm whether this is what you are looking for, and i'll figure out a way to produce it.

reply

I don't think its the collector's edition DVD although I could be wrong. By Act 1 I mean part/disk one. Basically, the first third of the miniseries. Chapter 7 refers to the dvd chapter, scene 7 if you prefer (I was kind of informal in designating it, I don't know the official name of the scene. I don't know if either were called "Irulan's Wrath", but if I recall right she IS very angry at her father during the scene in question in part II (its RIGHT after Paul and his mother are in the desert following the crash, and she's feeling betrayed by the emperor), so you might be right about the name. The third time the music appears is when she is organizing her spy mission to Feyd to learn the truth, she is brooding to herself and the music fades up, then she says she "feels like a party" to her handmaiden and says "its time to shed some of this naievete." sorry it took me so long to respond, I had given up:). I would be SO grateful if you have the answer:).

reply

just bumping this, since it sounded like AlexGreyWolf could help. Don't know if you are still there but I am now checking this daily again, please respond if possible:).

reply

Bump again (I'll bump this every month, but no more than that, otherwise its rude). As you can see I really want this piece:).

reply

If I guess correctly, I think he might be referring to the music that we hear when we are introduced to the Emperor, Count Fenring, and Princess Irulan, with the establishing shot being the exterior of the Imperial palce. It is a nice piece of music, if I've got the scene in question right.

reply

.............................................................anyone? Please? I SO want this piece.

reply

I am also looking for this piece, have not been able to find it. It appears every time in the early movie that they go to Kaitain (the capital planet). The first time is when they introduce them and Irulan does her classical dance (A profitable commodity, chapter 7), the second is when she gets angry, as you've stated (Irulan's wrath? in disc 2, chapter 3). If I find it, I will post it.

reply

THANKS SO MUCH! Seriously, although I don't anticipate success from either of us, its nice to know that someone else knows what the heck I am talking about and likes it--and yes, those are indeed the correct scenes. I will likewise post it if I have any luck--do you have any leads? I have the full score and theres absolutely no reference to it, nor in the movies credits...very strange. Let me know if you find anything!

reply

Just bumping this...anyone have any leads?

another bump

Probably futile, but bump

reply

I got some information over at the Graeme Revell board...apprently it might be on a 2 disk promotional cd? Anybody have the contact information as to how I might get that?

reply

Okay..so apparently its (thus far) only said to be on the PROMOTIONAL score....any idea how to acquire this?

reply

Not on Ebay eihter, I just checked again.

reply

Completely stumped......anyone have any ideas?

reply

I haven't posted in forever but I"m still looking for this..never have I seen a piece of music so elusive......I can't find it in any fo the credits either.

reply

I'll see what I can do for you. I can ask around in certain places for possibly a bootleg score that might include the track you and a few others in this thread have been looking for. If I find it, I'll post the link to the upload location for you.

reply

any info whatsoever would be much appreciated. This has become my ultimate procurement challenge in over 10 years of collecting music. I'm not even kidding. So thanks very much if you find any leads :).

reply

It is official, this is now the hardest thing I have tracked, bar none. still looking, however...

reply

I searched and searched for quite some time a few years back to no avail.

In the past I've ripped sound off of some end credits of DVDs - to capture music unavailable for sale. I know this piece is used for one of the image galleries, but I'm unsure if it is used for the entire sequence, or if my techniques (which I haven't attempted since 2003) can be easily preformed. I also may not get to this for weeks depending on my schedule.

If I'm successful, I'll let you know.

"You've shown your quality sir. The very highest."

reply

Please do, I'm definitely still interested:)

reply

Just a bump to let all of you know I am still searching for this. This has become quite the thread. if any new readers have any info, please don't hestitate to contact me. I will do the same for all of you. I have never seen anything this hard to find before, and I've kept up on all of Mr. Revell's score releases. I cannot for the life of my understand why it doesn't even have a track name or credit!

reply

Yet one more bump..still searching.

reply

And still....I honestly believe I will be looking for this piece the rest of my life..if anyone else has any interest or leads please let me know.

reply

I don't often look at this thread anymore, but I am still interested in finding that piece.

reply

I'm still looking for this magical piece...after almost 10 years. If anyone knows the violin/orchestra place that plays during "Irulan's Wrath" (DVD title), and basically anytime there is an Imperial scheme, please let me know. I have the complete score and its definitely not on the "normal" release.
