Not so much Cookery as butchery (Spoilers)

I have read many many Cookson novels and the theme of people - men - in particular - losing limbs - is a recurring one, as is the "poor lass "teken doon" by a member of the upper class.
Cooksons own life seems to be re-enacted and revenged in her work.
This film is no different. All the "difficult" people are easily killed off leaving the story free to run it's predictable course. The "any signature will do" statement I found very improbable - they would have done better to make Jessie of age which she looked anyway. I found the ending far too rushed and far too obvious. I used to enjoy her work years ago - but now I wonder what a psychologist would make of it.
