end credits - 'to my father'

At the very end of the credits, it says "to my father". Does anyone know if it's to be associated with the film's content? Or is it dedicated just because it's Roth's directorial debut? Anyone?

If you have the dvd, there is a director's commentary. Roth talks about the dedication, and that it was a difficult decision to make because people would assume that this happened to Tim Roth by his father, or similar situation. But Roth says that his father was a victim, not an abuser. His father is also dead. But Roth says that something similar to what we've seen in the movie happened to his father. He also said that he loved him. Very touching moment, and a deeply personal film for Roth to do. It's one of the best of 1999.

I haven't watched the entire movie with the commentary, but I strongly suggest that if you want to know more, then listen to that.
