Rows and rows of positive reviews for this movie - POTENTIAL SPOILERS

POTENTIAL SPOILERS ....

It really makes me laugh ... important movie, penetrating look at family dysfunction,
uncompromising storytelling ... and on and on and on and one ...

What nonsense. There are movies that are so bad you have to walk out, or movies that
are so boring you fall asleep, or so phony you have to get up and leave, but never have
I seen a movie so lacking in any kind of point except the suggestiveness of smut.

It's like the actors mill about in formation all leading the magical scene that someone
got their jollies from by putting in a movie ... because after all that's just what most
movies have become now, some kind of spectacle so people can see stuff they would
not normally be able to see.

It started out with moving picture and horses running, or trains rolling into the station,
then people, then cars and airplanes, then we get special effects, and now we get
simulated kidding abuse porn.

Not only that, but somehow people actually like this ... but they say they don't, they
have to hide their perversity by saying it's a hard to watch glimpse into a dysfunctional
family, and the scene itself is almost too quickly and abruptly revenged by the murder
of the father so the titillated viewers can feel less exposed in their creepiness.

This movie did not explain what was going on, it did not have a message about it, or
show anything pattern to avoid, or report, it was pure gratuitous perversity.

None of the characters had any arc or importance or likeability or relatability to the
audience, they were just cattle to be moved square by square until our director had
a chance to show something on the screen that is pretty hotly illegal anywhere anytime
anyplace ... alas, the spectacle.

The people who like to see this stuff will argue all day for years ... I post a thread on
this when it came out, and got hate emails for many years for calling a spade a spade
about this movie.

I mean this thing is real garbage in a way that most garbage is not. Like real garbage,
garbage usually has some use ... recycling or composting, or even land fill, but this
movie has no redeeming value that I can perceive, and I really have to wonder about the
people who defend it or talk it up. From the reviews one would think this is one of
the best movies ever made about anything.

I just wonder who is doing that reviewing? Nah ... I really don't.

I've seen this movie once, about a year after it came out. This movie was not made to be enjoyed by anybody. If you think it was, I'd say you're a bit daft.

How is this smut? I'm not going to say this movie is perfect, but it's a pretty realistic and gimmick-free depiction of the disturbing subject matter.

Also, you seem to think you know what everybody else thinks and feels.
