Documentery?

I don't get the anger for this film. Since when is every period based film supposed to be scripted from a true story?

The events in Top Gun never happened... are we supposed to hate that film?
The events in Kelly's Heros never happened let's boycott that movie!
I'm pretty sure Captain America is not real, what a revisionist movie that is!
I don't remember a russina coup taking over nuclear missles, let's berate Crimson Tide for it's historical innacuracies!

Bottom line... sometimes a movie is just a movie. Get over it. I love watching James Bond films even though they are not accurate depictions of the SAS or the CIA, and even though they don't always paint Americans is a great light. WHo cares... they are great movies and fun to watch.

BTW... Robin Hood wasn't real either.

I will say. That Top Gun. Is a real Naval air program that was based at mirimar airbase. But i belive about ten years ago it moved up north to lemoore. But all other points are indeed valid.

Fallon, Not Lemoore.

Lemoore is the home of the Hornet pilot training school, after they go through primary flight training elsewhere. It's the home of the RAG (Replacement Air Group)

Fallon is the home of the Fighter Weapons School.

A man I knew and respected was a former XO of TOPGUN. In retirement he still flew foreign fighters under contrast as one of the Aggressor pilots with ATAC.
He was killd two years ago in his F-21 Kfir coming back from a TOPGUN training hop in a unforcased weather related accident.

The reason for the anger, as anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of history will tell you, is that the British captured the enigma machine well, well before the Americans entered the war. Clearly there were no British accents to be heard in this film. I understand why many British are angry, but I personally just treat the film as a complete fictional entertainment.

True, but if you don't mind a good slugfest, make your way over to the Robin Hood boards, where the IMDB history police are out in full force claiming the film isn't historically accurate enough and may leave negative effects on impressionable minds.🐭

And what anyone with a knowledge of history but without their panties in a twist will tell you is that this film does not try to claim this is what happened or that the Americans found it first. It is simply a FICTIONAL story set in a historical time period.

This is not the story of how the Enigma was first captured.
It is simple a fictional story about an (not THE) attempt to capture an enigma.
