Did 'Town and Country' kill Warren Beatty's acting career?

He hasn't been in a movie since then, and that was 10 years ago.

I think he just retired, being in the film industry as long as he has one flop wouldn't matter.

He's a notorious perfectionist on both the movies he directs and (to the grief of his directors) on those he only acts in. For someone of his longevity and stature, he's made very few films, reflecting his extreme pickiness at choosing projects. I doubt "Town & Country" "killed" his acting career--the last time he was an actual box-office star was probably 1978's "Heaven Can Wait"--so much as it reinforced his disinterest in acting in projects he didn't have complete control over. Then probably worries about age as well as his usual skittishness toward committing to a film led him to stall and stall and stall until he was de facto retired. A pity his intelligence was always so cautious in terms of making industry decisions--he could have been a major American director. Certainly "Reds" and "Bulworth" are more inspired and risky in terms of both subject and style than anything fellow actor-turned-director Clint Eastwood has ever done.

Warren's acting career died of old age.

He was always a pretty boy. When he was no longer pretty, he was no longer a star. Now he's retired and he spends all of his time reading. Good for him.

Reds and Bullworth are fine films, but Beatty's preference for multiple takes (like Kubrick) and reshoots have really hurt his career. Eastwood, on the other hand, has always shot very quickly and doesn't give studio headaches. He's also made several masterpieces as well.

The last thing Beatty was involved in of any note was that he toyed with the idea of running for governor when Grey Davis was recalled back in 2003, but ultimately didn't run.

You also wonder did Warren get blacklisted of sort by some filmmakers & execs due
to his ego & demands, perhaps? Like the time he was thrilled when Tarantino offered
him Kill Bill 1,only to be replaced by David Carradine after he demanded to have
Winona or Gwyneth play the Bride after learning Uma was expecting? Seem after
that no one wanna have anything to do with him,IMO!!!
