ending has grown on me

when i first saw it thought i was cheated of a Tony death scene but now i see how brilliant it really was

reply

Nah, it wasn't brilliant. It was a cope out and the audience deserved to see an ending rather than leave it ambiguous

reply

its lets the viewer decide

reply

And I don't like that

reply

its pretty much assumes Tony gets shot but one can still hope things end differently

reply

I didn't hear no bullet shot

reply

there was that one conversation earlier about not hearing a shot instead everything just goes black

reply

Who shot him and why? Tonys crew fixed their beef with the guys from NY

reply

It wasn't ambiguous.
Everything that shows that Tony was assassinated, is right there - you just don't see it.
But Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there.

I saw it, because I watched.

It was brilliant from a producer standpoint, but not from a story standpoint.

Chase got the end the series without having to write an ending. Plus, if Gandolfini had not tragically died so unexpectedly, we'd have had a real Sopranos movie by now and Tony would be alive - and no one would cry foul. Maybe Tony would have died in the movie/sequel.

reply

You can get someone else to play Tony in a movie

reply

You could, but who would go to see it?

reply

Did you watch Many Saints of Newark? I have been avoiding it due to bad reviews.

reply

Didn't see it TJ.

reply

Did you watch a James Bond movie after Sean Connery left the franchise?

reply

Honestly, I've only seen the Roger Moore Bonds, but that's not a bad point actually. Still, I can't see anyone else playing Tony unless it's a prequel with a much younger actor.

reply

I recommend seeing You Only Live Twice with Sean Connery. Its very much grounded in reality for a Bond movie

They definitely ended it the way they did to leave the door open for a future return. But alas, Gandolfini passed on.

reply

I had never seen a single Sopranos episode by the time the final episode aired. I remember seeing news coverage and the final moments of that last episode and thinking "oh, he gets whacked at the end."

Then later, I went back and watched the entire series. When I arrived at the end of the final season and came to the last scene once again I said, "yep, he gets whacked at the end."

I don't know how people can interpret it any other way.

And yes, I love the way it was shot, loved the ending. Chase executed (pun intended) perfectly.

reply

Tonys death should have been something dramatic instead of what we got
