Was Paulie's nickname "Walnuts" ever canonically stated?

Or is that just a fan name?

It's in the show.

Example from S2E3:

"That's funny. Paulie Walnuts
told me he ran into you this morning."

Walnuts was his favorite snack

I wonder if they called him walnuts because he was a ball buster.

According to HBO's website while the show was on, he got the nickname when he was a younger guy and working for Johnny Boy Soprano. He hijacked a truck that he thought was full of expensive electronics that would have been a huge score. The whole crew was at the warehouse when he opened the truck to reveal it was actually full of walnuts. So of course, everyone had to bust his balls about it and the nickname stuck.

Was this event shown or talked about in the many saints of newark movie?

reply

Nope. The Paulie, Sil, etc characters have very small roles in the film. Maybe if there is a second Many Saints…??
