Started off as this interesting, edgy, hotheaded young gangster. Then they gave his character a huge drug problem and his storyline tanked thereafter. Last I remember was that awful LSD episode where he was spacing out on park bench. I was like “what the heck is this? Who is writing this utter crapola?” Too bad.

I also found The Ride to be one of the best episodes of the series - so brillant, sad and unsettling.
When someone out of nowhere simply says it sucks then it deserves an explanation on a movie chat forum. Why even write it in the first place that it just sucks. What are we supposed to get out of that?
I don't expect much here but I'll give this user one last chance to explain anyway.
I enjoyed Christopher's eps with Tim Daly. Daly is up to his chin in trouble by getting involved with Chris, and it's sorta funny but it's really uncomfortable. An innocent in a situation he can't control.
shareThose scenes were excellent. When Christopher bullies Daly around, particularly when Daly shows no sign of the trouble he's in, it's just great. We've seen how Christopher reacts to slow service at the bakery, but Daly doesn't know about that.

That was a rough sense.
I had the opposite reaction. He was fairly uninteresting to me until he had his drug problem. Oh well, boats float.
(Although, my favorite episode of the show for a long time was one featuring him that didn't relate to his drug problem, titled Pine Barrens, the one where he and Paulie are running around in the woods after the Russian they might have killed. There's a great line that Paulie mishears from Tony over a bad cell phone connection. Although, come to think of it, Christopher's drug issues might have played a little role in the episode.)
Tony Soprano: [over the phone] It's a bad connection, so I'm gonna talk fast! The guy you're looking for is an ex-commando! He killed sixteen Chechen rebels single-handed!
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri: Get the fuck outta here.
Tony Soprano: Yeah. Nice, huh? He was with the Interior Ministry. Guy's some kind of Russian green beret. This guy can not come back to tell this story. You understand?
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri: I hear you.
[the telephone connection is lost - Tony swears, and Paulie hangs up]
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri: [turning to Christopher] You're not gonna believe this. He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. The guy was an interior decorator.
Christopher Moltisanti: His house looked like shit.
That episode was so funny.

shareI think you may have misread the character, from the beginning he was hot headed and undisciplined which caused his long term problems. He was never really meant to be a gangster.

A big part of why this series was just ok.
It doesn't take having to be Schwarzenegger to kick ass yet Christopher was never going around kicking everyone's asses. He was seen often getting beaten by Tony, was assaulted and nearly killed by Russians, and was beaten by crackheads. He would often have to resort to using weapons on civilians.
Anyway you got a really odd reason for thinking an otherwise brillant show was just okay. But you are a stupid Trump troll for the most part so it's not unexpected.
I liked him and probably thought he was the best on the show. I just didnt like he's ending. That was one of the reasons the sopranos got ruined for me.
shareI think his ending was good for the character on reflection, Tony saw him as his heir-apparent for so long despite knowing deep down his hopes would never be met, I think everyone was expecting a big showdown after all the build up and the deterioration of their relationship.

For such a top tier relation from two of the biggest in the series the ending to Chris and his Fiancée was such a let down and pathetic. It shouldve ended a lot more redeeming.
For me, the Sopranos limped to the end after Adriana died in Season 5. True, it had it's moments of past glory but there was a lot of lackluster episodes those last two seasons.
shareI agree. The series seemed to meander at the end. IMO, they stretched out the storyline a few seasons too far, but it had its loyal fans so who can blame the for riding that gravy train.
shareYeah. At the same time, the storyline between Tony and Melfi has also run it's course. Their conversations were no longer interesting. It should have also ended (or at least stopped making her a main character) after season 5. You could tell at the end they had no idea how to close the storyline so they just decided out of the blue within a single episode that she would get the revelation that Tony is not a 3 dimensional character, but a total psychopath. Terrible writing.
