Its not uncommon for him to disappear without notice and be gone for months. Happened at least twice that we know of. And earlier in the season he was very distant and distracted. As far as she knew he had something come up and completely forgot about the party.

Which is why Rosalie shuts down Carmela in Paris when Carmela starts talking about Adriana's "disappearance" and asking her about her son. She knows the "Family" killed her son, but that's the life they're all imprisoned in.
