When re-watching the series, what scenes do you skip through?

For me, I skip all the scenes with their kids. That was the first thing I started fast-forwarding on, and then most of the scenes with Tony's mother because it was often the same thing over and over, and she's just such a hateful character.

"Fran Felstein scenes"

Those scenes with her reminded me of story line from LA Law. Where Douglas found a name and phone number written in the margins of an old case file which is father worked on. He ended up calling the number and found out this was his father's mistress who he too ends up sleeping with. I remember the first time I saw the series, I was cringing at the thought of Tony doing the same.

Who is Fran Felstein?

reply

Tony eating.......its disgusting to see him pile that much food in him. all the scenes of him eating and drinking probably added up to 1 hour of screen time throughout the show

" Tell me mom...when your little girl's on the slab...where will it tickle you?"

reply

Tony eating is hysterical.

The rape scene.

Meadow and Noah scenes.

Would you like me to tell you the little story of right hand/left hand?

reply

Yes, that rape scene was difficult to watch the first time.

Yeah, and when Noah ended up dumping her I was so happy for him. She was just too much work and didn't respect his feelings.

I thought it was hysterical when he later said that Tony was lucky he didn't kick his ass for the way he talked to him. Noah had to be so totally clueless not to know that Tony was in the mob. But Noah seemed so arrogant he must have felt he could handle it.

"Melfi scenes"

That's also one I forgot to mention I fast-forward over. Even the first time so much of it seemed like it was dialogue written by a high school student.

How is it possible that someone could fast forward through those scenes? They're so crucial to the story, and to also understanding Tony Soprano as a character.

Any scene with Livia Soprano in it. That voice and the faces she makes, ugh.

reply

Why would anyone ff ? The melfi parts have a lot of meat in them and dark humor. The parts with the kids ? That's like half an episode.

reply

Most of Season 1. Too much of annoying kids and mama Livia. Rape scene with Melfi.

reply

Rape scene with Melfi.

Really? I usually slo-mo that. There must be something wrong with you.

reply

Hahaha

Why would you slo mo that scene?...to see Jesus Rossis bare ass as he rapes melfi?

Any Tony Soprano sex scene. Mainly because I have no urge to see a fat guy banging anything, much less a woman way too hot to be with him.

Then again, the show also gave even a twerp like AJ two hot girlfriends (Devon and Dania Ramirez). The wishcasting of this show I typically fast forwarded thru.

I am a casual fan of the series. Basically I sort of cherry pick at the storyline, and follow the characters I like and not those I do not like. What I like the show is the "life" of the guys, the crime, people getting killed, the gangster stuff.

Sorry, and I know this is the centerpiece of the show, but I have never liked the psychiatrist story and I just find Lorraine Bracco to be very annoying. I do not care about this character, do not care that she has a psychiatrist of her own, her kid, she got raped.

Meadow and AJ I could not care less about, especially Meadow. Beautiful actress, just an annoying ass character. I don't care who she is dating or sleeping wi, or what college she is going to, or anything else about her. AJ sometimes was interesting, but what a whiny little punk. Carmela was OK as a character, because she plays a long suffering wife. But her parents are annoying and I could not care less about them, especially the crotchety father. The stupid "spec house" and the petty bickering. Who cares already.
