While he was scum for cheating on meadow knowing how powerful tony was. However like matt his death was tragic since greed and stupidity is what undid them.

shareI don't think Meadow dating Jackie Jr. by that point would have made Tony more likely to protect him. First of all, Jackie and his friends shot a made man and killed the dealer at the card game. Secondly, Tony wouldn't want Jackie in Meadow's life anymore after that because it was clear Jackie was an idiot whose stupid decisions would be detrimental to Meadow and her future. So I think he still would have done what he did, wipe his hands clean of the matter while still dealing with it by pressuring Ralph to put a hit on Jackie Jr.
shareIf you recall, both Tony and Carmela regretted meadow ever dating him, and this is before he was killed. Carmela never was happy about it and at some point, while in a session with Dr. Melfi, wished she was still with Noah as he was doing great in school and I believe was accepted to a good law school.
