Tony shouldn't have sent Bobby to kill that French Canadian

I know he was mad at him for losing the fight, but sending a rookie to do the job was a bad idea. Too many things that could have gone wrong.

I always wondered why Bobby didn't get caught for that job. The guy he killed ripped off a piece of his shirt. The police could have easily got some DNA evidence out of that

There is a lot of kills in Sopranos that in reality the police would had easily connected Tony & his crew to the murders - I thought the way Tony & Christopher covered up Ralph's murder in his own house was very sloppy on their part...Too much evidence was left behind...

What about Paulie and the Colombians, where he got kicked in the balls, never heard anything about it afterwards haha

That was real? I saw that movie, I thought it was bullsh*t

reply

It's highly likely that Bobby never did time, so they wouldn't have his DNA.

A lot of crime shows and films really exaggerate how advanced local police are and how much they successfully use forensics and DNA. In this country alone, thousands of homicides, often gang related, go unsolved each year. Plus the crime was committed outside of the US.

You gotta pop your cherry sometime. Plus Tony was mad at Bobby for his ass whoopin in the cottage. Tony pretended to maturely accept it, but he was a vindictive, childish little man. As his conversation with Carmella revealed, there's a part of him that never grew up.

Italy is shaped like "a boot" and Canadians are stereotyped to say aboot instead of a about. It's a pun.

What season/episode was this?

reply

It was season 6, Sopranos Home Movies.

And yes, even though Tony did it mostly out of vindictiveness towards Bobby, it was the right thing to do.

Bobby was resting on his laurels of being Tony's brother-in-law. He'd never done wetwork, which would make Bobby potentially easy to flip since no capital murders could be linked to him. The higher up Bobby gets in the organization, the more Tony needs to know he can trust him. Bobby having to murder someone in cold blood puts him on that level with Tony. Bobby becomes just as dirty as everyone else in the business.

Personally, I think Bobby probably should have helped Bobby Sr whack Mustang Sally (Bobby Sr was croupy and ill and Bobby Jr even volunteered to do this job because he didn't like Sally anyway) but Bobby absolutely had to pop his cherry at some point.
